    Smile The best route from Bristol to Dublin?

    The best route from Bristol to Dublin?

    Bristol->Liverpool->Ferry->Dublin???

    Bristol->Wales->Ferry->Dublin???

    Anyone has driven from Bristol to Dublin (or Ireland) before?
    Anyone idea how to get there *faster* by car ?

    How long does it take???

    I know I can take Ryanair from Bristol to Dublin for as cheap as £2.99 (one way, ex. tax) but I really wanna drive there...

    Thanks

    Well that is the route i would have taken, as my welsh friend said it was about £15 return from haverfordwest/fishguard with a car. But looking at some sites it apears you cant go from fishguard to dublin, only Rosslare. Which is quite a bit south. http://www.dublin.worldweb.com/Trans...ies/index.html

    So, reconsidering the situation, going to liverpool then straight across to dublin is probably quicker.

    Alternatively you can go from holyhead.

    The routes through wales would involve more fun driving i would think, instead of just a motorway crawl to liverpool.

    Sorry to rain on your parade pal, but the Steam Packet stopped doing the Dublin-Liverpool run this year

    Your best bet would be to fly from Bristol or Cardiff and rent a car out there.

    I've actually searched over internet...found about 4-5 ferry companies doing liverpool/wales->dublin but the price seems to be pretty high... the cheapest ones are around £100-£150 per car+2 adults for a 5 day return trip...

    is there any bargain ferry deal? I mean if its £150 I could fly with ryanair and take taxis there....=P

    it's going to cost me that much to go half way to Ireland with a car.. that's pretty good considering it's about 4/4.5 hours on a fast craft from Liverpool.

    Plus, if you're only stopping in Dublin, and not gadding about the place - the buses are far better value than taxis... it's muy expensivo over there. We ended up just walking everywhere.
