    Future Driving Test Changes?

Was talking to my Instructor today and she said that at her Instructor meeting the DSA Examiner Heads were talking about them wanting to spilt the driving test into 3 parts instead of 2.
Apparently they want a more detailed test on the manouvre's because most people fail their test's on manouvres, she said that the manouvre's part would be done by the instructor too not the Examiner meaning that all the test would consist of is general driving

I can't decide whether it's good thing or a bad thing

To be honest the driving test need to be redesigned as it is in no way realistic to driving on the roads. It is basically a 'drive how we say' test, not a drive safely test.

in some scandinavian countries, after you pass you are forced to do another course (like pass plus, but, afaik, longer) - i think this would be a good idea. as for this idea - the guy who teaches you passes you? doesnt seem entirely honest to me..

I agree as they could fail you, if their teaching schedules are empty forcing you to continue taking lessons and paying them. But then again, they will know your driving skills more than the usual examiner who will have only known you for 1 hour tops.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

Completely agree. You learn to pass your test, then you learn to drive. That was my problem, i learned to drive too quickly and couldn't pass the test (well nerves had an impact too i guess)

Over here in the Isle of Man the driving test is uber-rigorous on the manouvring side of things...

One has to reverse up a standard width back lane (bout 2 foot wider than the car) from the road from left and right, and reverse park 3 times.. none of this namby pamby "reversing round a corner" malarky... and to add insult to injury, the "Turn in the road using forward and reverse gears" (not allowed to call it a 3 point turn no more...) is done in the tightest tiny little busy road in the universe - you can get round in 3 but it's hard - right up to the kerb job without hitting it. Do it in me sleep these days but on your test it's nerve racking to say the least.

Exactly... You'll fail if you don't hold the wheel right or something ridiculous like that... How on earth that makes a difference I don't know... If you have to make an evasive maneuvure you're gonna grab the wheel pretty quick anyway!

As for turn in the road... Just use someone's driveway entrance. Damn sight quicker and it can be done in three easy turns, not three-very-slow-tricky-probably-have-to-do-4-sometimes.

Also, when exactly would anyone want to reverse into a road?
On the test if you saw a car coming down that road you'd have to go back and do it all again
