Peugeot 405 Installing A New Dash

a firend of mine has a Peugeot 405 estate car and he wants to change the dash board so that he has a rev counter insted of a broken clock.
how easy is this to do? (know that he does not have the know how to put one on) he did say he was going to get a external rev counter and mount it on the dash board.
and where would be a good cheep place to get one from ? (bar a breakers yard)

    What varient is it?

A good deal of the ones around these days are teh 1.8TD. May be akward getting a counter to work on it if so as car's around that time tended to take the input off the coil.
