Spent yesterday afternoon and evening prepping a free rear strut brace I got. It even has racing pedigree as it's from a CRX Challenge car! But after...
I discovered this, this morning:
FFS! 10mm too short. Not happy. I've tried jacking each sill at the rear, and backing the n/s wheel onto a ramp to try and twist the chassis, but no joy.

That mean you chassis is twisted/bowed?
Could have something to do with the welding Shads car revieved, could be that the racing car wasn't the right shape.
Fairly certain that despite having some suspension changes (think they only ran the passive rear steer setup on early ones) over it's life span that the turrets never moved.
CRX never had rear steer, was only the prelude.
JDM EF8's had passive rear steering as did EDM ones I think, but USDM and UKDM cars didn't have it because people didn't like it. But anyway, the chassis is the same for all EF/ED CRXs be they 16v or VTEC. The only difference is with the JDM glass roof versions and those with a full steel roof (i.e. no sunroof).
Another guy has had trouble fitting a fixed size Spoon rear brace, so I'm not alone. Didn't say how he solved it though. I very much doubt that my chassis has changed shape due to having the n/s/r quarter and back panels changed, but I guess it shouldn't be ruled out.
Will probably either have it chopped in half and welded back together to be slightly longer, or elongate one of the brackets at the end slightly.

Chop it in half and add the adjustable thread thing that other braces have?
Nice idea, but I think that would be a bit more hassle. Once it's on it's not going to need to be adjusted again, so I'm happy enough to have it adjusted to suit.
But I've got to wait until someone can do it for me due to lack of welding gear and skillz

Uk cars also had passive rear steer on some models, guy just down the road from me who has about 3.5 CRXs at the mo has a UKDM F reg with the PRS setup.
It gets mixed opinions, alot of people say that it makes them too twitchy, esp in the wet.
Edit, US cars also got passive rear, sport and compact did a project CRX, and metioned such a set up. Thinking about it I think nearly all non eco models had it, only to have it deleted after a year or so.

Was not expecting such a dramatic improvement to handling - whereas before when nearing the limit, the car would just start to drift and get a bit lose at the rear, now it just remains planted! Haven't quite been ballsy enough to find the new limit yet, that can wait for the track day

We came up with a few options but we started by elongating the holes by about a mm on each one. That got it close, so we also bent the brackets slightly so they were at the same angle as the studs, and with a bit of pursuasion, it went on! Super super tight though so it ain't coming off

We only took about 1mm from each bolt hole so there's still 3-4mm around the outer edge of the holes. Yes if you want to get picky it has made it weaker, but by an insignificant (hopefully!) amount. It's very very tight on the car so it's under a fair bit of stress, but it's very heavy steal so it should cope.
So far so good anyway
I was surprised to learn that adding a roll cage only increases my premium by about £200 so that may be coming sooner than I thought - stiff++
