    Worst crash?

Well some of you must of been in a car crash before, so what's the worst crash you've been in? How did it affect you? and more importantly.. the car! (j/k).

Side note: Sorry if this question is personal to some, or if you've been in a terrible situation. You don't have to reply, and just don't come to this thread, thanks.

I've only ever been in one accident (touch wood)

My mate mis-judged some traffic lights and went into the back of someone. Was only at about 5-10mph though, no one was hurt. Bit of damage though

http://www.cocopops.net/westy_web/FrameSet.htm is my most recent accident.

I was hit by a kid who lost control of his fiesta.

Everyone was ok (ish) and I actually came out better than anyone else, no injuries. The Westfield was written off and I now have the VX220 to replace it.

Yeah I saw the thread, that sucks.

Glad everyone was ok though, the car you were driving doesn't look that safe.

    Worst 2 -

The Ice patch + kerb incident = new suspension arm and tyres

The Cat disappearing from mirrors while backing out of the garage Incident = Aesthetic improvement in front right bumper (still there!)

Luckily, I've never been in anything worse, or involving another car. (touch wood)

3 crashes, about 8-10 years ago now. 2 not my fault, 1 my fault. All within my first 3 years of driving.

    1) Going striaght over a very large round about. OAP in metro just piles straight onto the round about from my left without seeing me. I floor it to try and get out the way but he hits the back left of my car. I spin and go side ways up the wrong side of the dual lane road at about 40-50MPH. The copper said i was luck the road was wet and i could slide sideways rather than roll it.

    2) Again, very simular accident. Going stright over a mini round about. Middle aged stupid lady in mini just drives on to the round about and bangs into rear left hand side. I try to regain control but the wheel arch had forced on the wheel. I hit the pavement, the front left wheel flies off and i slid sideways down the pavement at about 30mph then crashed through a fence onto some ones lawn. If anyone had been on that normally very busy pavement they would be dead.

    3) This one was my fault, well not really completely my fault but i shold have avoided it. Strangely enough, i was on my way to collect a friend that had writen his car off the morning (hit a rubbish truck which had to be towed away!). I has on a 2 lane road in a town. I had to change lane but got completely cut up by another car. I was to busy giving the ass who cut me up the finger and not looking ahead. When i did look a car had stopped in front and was indicating to turn right. I did not even have time to get my foot to the brake before i rear ended him then carried on only to crash again into a big concrete flower pot thing the council had put on the pavement. Completely totaled both car and the car i het had 4 people in who each got £4,000 pounds each for wiplash. The driver of the nice well modded car with a boot of very expensive car hifi (also trashed) was a big black gansta type. I though he was going to kill me until he started crying!

Niether crash really effected me that much, other than to make me much more careful on roundabouts. But a close mate of mine was in a head on crash in which a woman was killed. While not entirely his fault, it really messed him up for years.

What you have to do in any incident is understand why it happened and realise what you need to change in order for it not to happen again.

    1. http://niknak.org/g/?p=%2FCars%2FMy+...ult+Clio%2Fdoh

Low speed impact into the back of a Mundano. Wasn't paying enough attention (changing track on stereo), looked up, he'd stopped. Lesson to learn: don't take your eyes off the road unless it's completely safe to do so.

    2. http://niknak.org/g/?p=%2FCars%2FMy+...%2D04%5Fbugger

Aquaplaned on rather large puddle (border line flood in all honesty) on a dual carridgeway, slid into the barrier at ~50mph and twisted the chassis. Write off. Lesson to learn: big f*** off huge puddles usually equate to big f*** off scary dangerous puddles, so treat with caution!

    3. http://niknak.org/g/?p=%2FCars%2FMy+...nt%2Fffs%2Ejpg

Turning into a side road, thought the gap was bigger than it was. On the damp november road the 4x4 couldn't stop in time and took me out. Thankfully the door took 90% of the impact with only some superficial damage to the quarter panel, which was later replaced. Lesson to learn: don't bother with gaps that might be too small, because they probably are too small, and this is a taste of what can happen.

Since number 3 I've done an IAM driving course and vastly improved my abilities, and as a result I've had an incident free past 11 months

Everyone was fine, middle of an A road, HGV swerves into the back of us, takes a huge chunk out and fecks the wheels in back, mate luckily swerved us to safety before she shunted us into a white van, pulled over and got out no problems

Looked, and half of the car was gone

Looked at the HGV, a 20X20cm piece of bumper had come off... my mate kept it as a momento

Back when i was a young maniac i was tanking along a v fast A road when a car pulled out from a right hand turning midway through a very fast left/right bend, my front left hit his back right which then lifted his car off the ground about 2 feet and pinned it to the front of my for about 20m, while all this was hapening i was fighting the wheel to try and keep my car going straight....which i couldn't.....as the back end came around on my car it flipped the other car about 30-40 foot in the air before it landed the right way up across my roof and boot.

Everyone involved was fine but you can believe me when i say i calmed down a hell of alot after this.

Been in one, when I was maybe 8 or 9 years old - obviously not my fault heh. pulled up onto a dirt slope to let a car passed on the single lanes where I live - the slope was wet and the car slid sideways into the passing one - scrapped pint, dented wheel arches and lost a mirror and side indictator. Apart form that and the dreadfull sound, that's been it touch wood.

Had a near miss in my mini again on the single roads. My brakes had been acting up, and trundling along at 20 down a particular oad, met a Peugout 306 at high speed (some maniacs round where I live). Slammed on the non-existant brakes, and due to the wet road he didn't exaclty slow down quickly either. The result was a miss by about a 1/4" on the driver side mirrors, a rather flustered father, and some swearing and cussing from the other car. Could have been a lot worse had the road been any thinner.

Dad's old Ashtray recived a shunt up the back side at some traffic lights that hard enough to stop the boot shutting correctly.

Fortunatly for us and less fortuante for others, we recived the shunt via 3 other vehicles. Everyone had just released their brakes and had the clutch down to move off so the impact at the back shot all the way through.

As for accidents where I was at fault? Erm, I dented a 206 in a carpark driving a LWB transit (moments carelessness and forgetting about the extra length of the van). No harm done, horrid little car anyway

Worst one I ever was in was the Company Polo I'd borrowed to take some toner to Castletown... February and snowing, heard on the tin-pot local radio that there had been a nasty crump on the main road south and it was blocked so I went down the back road... going round a fairly gentle right hander at about 40 - you can usually take it at 60 ish - caught the nearside rear tyre on some snow/ice at the side of the road (I was over to the left too far I reckon) lost the back and started sliding down the road towards a big old hedge complete with ancient Manx slate gatepost... I thought I was going to hit it and spin off, which woulda been bad enough, but instead I launched up this post and rolled the car twice before it landed on it's wheels and slammed nose first into the hedge on the other side of the road.

The car was destroyed.. thankfully I wasn't....

A mate had a Citreon GSA and was tanking it through some lanes. Alas, it was snowy.. talk about a deathwish.

Anyway, he lost the rear end on a S bend, span it 180 and put it in a ditch backwards. No-one hurt, car suffered a broken front number plate (somehow??).

Pushed it out the ditch, carried on... albeit at a sensible speed...
