    Rover K series Engines

Did anyone see Watchdog last night, i briefly saw it while eating tea last night, and well i'm shocked at how many failures they are getting, the 1.8 is the worst, beading at the top of the engine is falling to pieces, letting out water and causing head gaskets to go, some in under 12/14k miles, and some poor people having them go in under 6months....

Thats what you get when you design an engine as a 1.4 MAX with a variant in 1.1L size and the expect it to cope with a 1.8 bore. The K-series is the most overrated engine to have ever been produced, the only thing going for it is its low mass. Plenty of Caterham/Elise owners will defend it to the death, but to me it is, and always will be a pile of poo.

My mates Elise did it's headgasket in after 3 months (this was when the elise was first launched). In the 3 years he had it, the gasket was replaced 5 times; the 4th time was with a whole heap of engine bits too!
