    silencing a car alarm

ok so my 17yr old volvo has always had an alarm fitted but its not been wired up, so i thought what the hell, plugged some random fuses back in and some random wires in random sockets (note : probably not the right sockets) and it appears to work, well it goes off randomly if i get in the car. but then the only way of silencing it is to pop the bonnet and rip a fuse out, which im guessing isnt normal. so can anyone with alarms suggest ways of silencing it? im pretty sure its not meant to have a remote cos theres nothing that looks like a sensor fitted. oh and sticking my key in the ignition does work, neither does starting the car. im wondering if i just havnt plugged it all in properly (theres no manual so im just guessing)

    cheers

Really old alarms had a security key mounted on a wing that turned the alarm on and off..... Kinda like vending machine style keys

If you cant see it then its probably not got one as they are pretty obvious - metal thing sticking out the wing

Sounds like it's faulty... Might wanna get it looked at, or consider getting a new alarm fitted
