The WORST seat you have ever sat in

Ok...what is the WORST car seat you have ever been unlucky enough, to drop your sorry arse into?

Not the car...not even the colour.....just the SEAT SHAPE and total lack of comfort?

The Metro (A reg kinda age)...I just sat in one.....well....I say "sat"...I fell into it and had to use ropes to climb out....

Its an L shape which my skinny arse dropped inside of, and I had more thigh support than in my entire life....in fact, it was like sitting in a Sandwhich Toaster.

I was in it for 3 minutes....I hurt more than if Lowe had introduced me to Kick Boxing.....;) What a horrible car.

Cobra Monacos. Cheap buckets but bloody aweful to sit on when you're doing a long journey. No so much car specific cos they get chucked in all sorts. :)

Indiscriminate large VW van circa 1983...... the seat was broken granted... but, the back was on TWO angles - the right hand side of the seat was nearer the wheel than the left hand side, and the whole thing was raked back, half way up the seat - the bottom half was vertical, I kid you not - with the effect that the only bit that touched your back was just below your kidneys....and one of the rails had collapsed so the thing was a bit drunken anyway :eek:


Luckily, someone torched the garage it was in, and put the poor van out of it's misery :D

Honda Accord on a drive down to Bristol from Cranfield, some 2.5hrs in the car, I had Severe back pain for the next 2 days, it was truely horrible and probably one of the worst cars i've driven.
Sure it was a company car but it was ragged to hell.. but i'd never buy a honda after that experience.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Ok, you guys probably don't exactly see those every day but the cloth covered seats are aweful!
They are buckets with the thigh supports angled upwards only the thigh supports are so close together that a 80 lb. woman with no butt would fit perfectly :( They pinch youor cheeks together and maje your knees knock together not to mention that once you sit down, wether you comfortable or not, you are GLUED in the seat of your pants even if you hips are angled at 30 degrees uphill. It's like setting into a big V shaped seat bottom with velcro for fabric :(
To make them even worse, they are misaligned with the pedals so that after your knees are forced together by the seat bottoms and your pant legs are glued to the thigh supports you have to force your feet off to the left (remember i'm on the OTHER side of the car ;) ) to get on the pedals, it's like a Woman sitting proper with a tight mini skirt on and placing here feet under her seat.

These were the aweful buckets that were ( Got in a bad accident with it and soon got rid of it :D ) my Wifes Grand Cherokee. I've sat on milk crates more comfy, and this is a fairly expensive SUV.
Chrysler sucks :(

RS Turbo Recaros...the back section is to narrow for me, i find the supports tend to dig in my back rather than wrap around...

1984 Fiat Panda. Seat were basically pieces of material stretched across the sides of the seat ala deckchairs. mmm nice.

It's quite comfy but you cant adjust it except backwards or forwards, and it doesn't have a headrest, same with the passenger seat.

The seats in my old mand ford mundeo, there just big wods of foam ffs :(

I guess everyones different. I used to have Honda CRX mrkII and the seats were awesome.

I can't quite remember the year or model (was green tho), but it was an old John Deere tractor. :cool: It was one of those plastic chairs like you used to get at school! Not very comfy...

Gonna have to agree with Zak, so far the worst seat I've been in is in a metro, around that age.

Only my problem is compounded by the fact that I'm 6'4" and large build.

Then closely followed by seats in a Fiat Cinquettento (sp?) it was made worse by the fact that the seat belts are so bloody small!

there is a worse seat than the Metro front seats.......




















THE BACK SEAT :eek: How bloody uncomfortable can you make a seat? I reckon they designed discomfort into it.. no way anything designed to offer comfort can be so evil..... at least in the front you get a seat to yourself ffs.... like sitting on a poorly angled, velour covered plank..... :mad:

Back of a G reg Mini. Solid "race" suspension, and I think a seat that resembled a wooden plank has left me with, I'm sure, long term back problems due to road bumps.

It was painful.

back seat of a mondeo st200. on account of its so f**king high (leather) that i couldnt sit upright. not a prob on normal mondeos :|

Well I am quite tall and am gonna be prone to back problems, so I have to be careful what type of seat I sit in.

Metro were the worst, Corsa seats also kill, my Escort ones are bad, I have had to get one of those back things from Halfords!

My friends BMW seats are niiccee :)

my peugeot 306 dturbo seat, the side bolster has worn away and it digs right into my arse!!!

Oh well, s'pose it shouldn't be so big :D

The BEST one I've sat in was in me mates Landy... he has Recaro buckets.. mmm comfy....

G reg sierra estate, imagine your grandma's old armchair... then think older... your getting there :(

Worst - Old type Scoda Fabia - you sit BOLT UPRIGHT in the front, there rock solid and really uncomfy ... I've been for like a 4 mile journey in one and was allready getting back ache, lol!

Best - Prob custom made seats for a GTO I've been in ... you just slide in and are held in just the right position - not been for a long drive in it yet so I don't know what its like long term but my dad says its good!

back seat in a series 2 lightweight :) fortunately i owned it so very rarely was sat in the back/passenger seat.

Worst = new shape Renault Clio. They seem to have been designed for obese people. Way too wide.

That's strange, I find the seats in my 99 Accord really comfortable, one of the reasons I bought it. Have done many a 4hr + trek across the country in it. I suppose everyones backs are differnt shapes. I would say Volvo are best though.

Just out of interest what Corsa were they? Only I found that the newest models are pretty nice seat wise.

I agree on the escort whole-heartedly, was best thing that happened to me when someone knicked that car :p

I have to say the most comfortable so far are the seats in my Citroen C3, nice :)

worst - pug 307 - can't put my finger on it, but the driving position is so, sooo wrong. feels like you're genna fall off or summit - truly wierd.

best - the roadster of course - pedals just right for heel and toe action, supportive leather seats, short-throw shift just where your left hand falls off the perfectly sited momo leather wheel... heaven!

Yeah... but the front seats are none too comfy either are they? :P

my volvos seats are VERY good for a cheapish (origionally) old car. mind you, volvo seats have apparently always been good for safety as well as comfort (currently 2nd best seat availible for wiplash protection)

I'm also surprised you didn't like the Accord TiG. I just drove my father-in-law's 96P Accord to France on a 200+ mile booze cruise and found it was pretty nice, if a bit ponderous compared to my normal ride;).

I don't tend to get uncomfortable in cars very easily, but the back seat of a late 80s Nissan Sunny Coupe is pretty poor, there's nowhere near enough headroom for me at 5'10" and you keep hitting your head:(. A ride in the boot of a friend's Nissan Micra was even worse, but I don't think that counts:p.

I sit quite upright, which i think was the problem, the honda seats are just too laid back imo.
