Alfa 147 to be precise.
My local Enterprise rent a car place says that they don't stock them because of their inherent unreliability / warranty claims.
So where might I be able to hire one for a weekend?

Im sure if you can convince a dealer youre looking to buy one theyd let you take one out at least over night.

I dont know the answer to your question im afraid.
But I am an Alfisti (Alfa Lover ) and proud 156 owner .
I have driven the 147 and its a lovely car, lots of Italian spirit and soul...and the looks!!
Can't blame you wanting one over and above a eurobox.
An Alfa 147 is a Eurbox. Sorry.Originally Posted by mattyp

Clearly part of Europe, but my understanding of eurobox was the more unimaginative cars designed and built in Europe. I don't think anyone could call a 147 a eurobox unless they have sight issues!.Originally Posted by Fox
E.g a car website define a Eurobox as "dull, lack character and are all alike". I think anyones description of a 147 will be a little different!

Edited on second thoughts :-)
Life can be very complicated....
As for Alfa's, I have had a few! I am in detox mode at the moment (decent car deal from the company) but I can highly recommend them as drivers cars. You should be prepared for some repair bills, but it can work out ok.
My last 146ti was bought for £3k - in 3 years I spent another 2k (new clutch, cambelt work, tyres, new front shocks - usual 70k miles stuff). I looked after it, washed it, oiled it weekly, warmed it up etc and sold it for £800. Not bad for a 100k miles P reg Alfa. Total cost over 3 years (excl. petrol) £4200.
That may sound expensive but I found it worth it. That car had more than the average work done to it (bought with my heart not my head as usual!) but I couldn't bring myself to spend twice as much on an old beemer which could just as likely require as much work for a higher price. Just my opinion of course...
I wouldn't buy a new one - too much depreciation and I understand the dealers have a bad reputation. I always bought 2nd hand from the owners club or a decent specialist of which there are a few!
So....how to test drive a 147 for a weekend? Only ever had one as a courtesy car sorry, but garauntee if you go to Italy for the weekend you can hire one
Best of luck
