    British Superbike Championship, Mallory Park

The race day is running along today (great racing by the way) but I took a visit yesterday for qualifying. All galleries for the 125cc, Virgin Mobile, Supersport and of course Superbike can be seen on Meangasoline.co.uk. However here are a few:

    1) Shane Byrne

    2) Peter Hickman

    3) Steve Plater

    4) Dean Thomas

I love the twinkle on the "P" in picture 2.

Edit: Actually picture 2 in general is a fantastic shot.

    They're all fantastic!

As a photography newbie, can i ask how you get the blured background with a shutter speed of 1/250?

    a) because the camera is moving pretty fast (because the bike is moving pretty fast)
    b) because presumably he used a smallish aperture?

    Great pics Tom.

Cheers guys, yeh pretty much you lock on the subject as it approaches you and then you take the picture at the point you want the photo.

Something like a Digital SLR will help immensely in taking a fast moving subject as you can set the camera to AI Servo, which basically keeps a focussed lock on the subject as it moves.

It sounds quite straightforward but its taken me well over a year to get the pictures like that...and even then I still pick out things I dislike.

    Very very very nice photos.

I'll keep the tradition of asking what camera you use (even though you tell us every time)
