When I read "basically just got a new job and i cba to drivew old rubbish cars anymore so" I thought you would of mean't something like the 106 or the saxo

Get yourself a Nissan Primera GT, 150bhp. Great car, economical, powerful. Your probably thinking... primera... yuk, check the GT version they are very nice, especially if you change the stock wheels. If you bought some performance upgrades you could bump that bhp up even more.

The longer wheel base lends itself to a more comfotable ride as well for the times when your not thrashing the dogs do da's out of it.

if yuo can insure a 106 GTi 16v, then it is finer than a fine thing, dressed in it's finest clothes

but they're not cheap to insure at 18!

As much as it pains me to say it, the 106/Saxo is actually a very well sorted chassis. You can't beat light weight at the end of the day, and around a track they are very nimble indeed.

But I couldn't justify buying one. Out of principle. You know?

How about a CR-X? There coming cheap now, no idea what Insurance is like, but I'm pretty sure it won't be too bad (It's not like they've got a V6...)

Or a totally different line, £4000 would buy you a really Nice Land Rover Series 3 3.5 V8, which tend to be Very cheap to insure (I've got my 110 Insured for less than a third of the Cabs price on the same size engine!!) and they pack a punch. Look and sound cool as well.

I'm wondering if a young, new driver on a 106 GTi is asking for trouble, tbh.
