    Louvres...

    Heres a piccy of the front end of the Clio:

    Problem is, the car is getting hot - very hot. It looks like I'm going to need some kind of venting or louvres.

    I'm thinking about some subtle ones just above the turbo and removing part of the bonnet seal (passenger side only in case of oil leak) to see if that will help.

    Thoughts?

    I've seen people put vents in the side wings, bear in mind the vent needs to be on the opposite side so as not to starve the air intake.

    why are they putting louvres in the front of the wings?? We want the hot air OUT, not more air in!

    as the wind flows over the top of the louvre it SUCKS the hot air out, hence you don't want the wing louvre on the same side as the air intake (See my comment above)

    Silly...everyone knows its LED washer jets and matching dustcaps on your wheels that increase power, not lovely cool air...

    dont forget the motorsport sun strip!

    i found cool looves exspensive, they wanted £100 just to fit a pulsar vent - the vent i had already and then i would have to get the bonnet resprayed - at an extra cost.

    That pic Moby was exactly the sort of thing I was thinking off, only on the other side directly above the turbo/induction kit.

    Thing is though, which way around do I have the louvres, open side towards driver or towards the front of the car?

    No point having wing louvres since the wings don't actually go to my engine bay as such, there's an inner arch in the way.

    On the air intake side you have them open at the front so air rushes in.

    On the opposite side you have them flush or open at the rear so that as the air passes over the top it draws the air out.

    remember when you were a kid and you had a glass of coke and two straws?

    I hope that diagram makes sense? (ignore the full stops, only there to pad out)

    As the air passes over the vertical straw it draws up the air and liquid in the vertical straw.

    This is the same for vents in bonnets or wings etc.
