Recommend a 1.6 motor with ALL the trimmings

Car change time (again). My beloved little Fiesta Mk6 got smashed up last week. Sitting at lights and a Golf GTI smashed into me .. he's admitted liability, which is a comfort but now I need to find a new car

So this time, Im gonna go for something about a 1.6 with as many "luxuries" as possible (eg.. cruise, auto headlights & wipers & so on)... so Im looking for suggestions

So have seen Mazda 3, Focus Titanium and Astra Elite... but Im sure there are more suggestions out there for a top spec car that I can pick up on a 54/05/55 plate

Cheers guys

Whats the budget?

Could be some clios around with high specs, could even look at a clio 182 which will be fast as hell and have all the bits

Upto 11k

I have seen an Astra Elite with the lot for 9k locally to me. Focus Titanium for 10k.

Kinda not so sure on Audi due to high service costs but they are.. well Audis. Just classy!

Slightly older but a BMW 3 series coupe - although the engine's probably bigger than you want Or a Golf 54 1.6 FSI with cruise etc should be around that price.

Skoda Fabia vRS? Slightly bigger engine I admit, but nice cars.

Otherwise, along the lines others have suggested - a Clio possibly?

bigger the car, the more toys - cars tend to depreciate at a *fairly* even rate after the first year, so you should be fairly safe..

i'm going to go well outside the box, and suggest an aventime. looks amazing, and loooads of toys - only problem is the size of hte engine - i think a 2l tdi is the best you'll get.

you could get a c4 for that money - the vtr or vts is a 1.6 (but i cant remember which one - the other is a 2 litre) - they've got loads of toys and gimmiks.

ooh, a touch out of your price range, but fits the bill perfectly..

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www...00641252735179

you can get the 's' from around £9,500 - se is pretty rare on the 1.6 engine - the 1.8 is much more common (which is why this one is expensive - the only 1.6 se i can find..)

Passenger seat height adjustment,Driver, passenger and side air bags,Alarm,17in alloy wheels,Remote central door locking,Climate control,Driver information system,Cruise control,Electric/heated door mirrors,Front/rear armrest,Memory driver electric seats,Front/rear electric windows,Front/rear head restraints,5 speed manual gearbox,Power-assisted steering,radio/CD autochanger,Passenger seat lumbar support,Electronic stability programme,Rake/reach adjustable steering column/wheel,Immobiliser,Front fog lights,Electric mirrors,Audio steering wheel mounted controls,Passenger's airbag,leather interior
looks good too, imho

I'm getting a C4 VTR+ 1.6 petrol as my next lease car in a couple of months - I tried it against a Focus Zetec, and found the C4 a nicer place to be (and SO much more kit..!).

I imagine the Citroen will depreciate much faster than the Ford, although it's not an issue for me, and presumably less of an issue for you, if you're buyng 1-2 years old.

Wow guys, some very varied options I hadn't considered here thanks very much! Volvo, VW and Citroen.

That Volvo is very nice mate, definitely something to consider as well as the Citroen. Can't go much higher than 1.8 or Il pay a massive amount on insurance (first year of driving for me).

Cheers for the suggestions!
