in my first year, i went with tesco (second cheapest option)
in my second year, i'm about to go with my cheapest... the aa.
tried using an insurance broker service like confused.com ?
Woah, and I thought my quotes were mad (being over 25 when I passed my test seems to have knocked several hundred quid off though, cost me just under 1300 for my A3). That said NU still come up trumps for silliness - £5100 quote, that's more than the value of the car.
Try Bell (part of Admrial iirc) they were reasonable for my second year.
i dding quiyte understand but i thought thats right? i did that.....i bought a brand new car , i just used my sister as a main driver altho im the owner .. and me as a second named driver ...
my insurance was initally 2k with all various companys fully comp... was then hiked up to 7k for GTI when london bombings were apparent. ...
i just thought that named drivers just dont qualify for NCB entitlement , only the main driver does ... ????
ok i undestand now ,.. so u aint got full licence yet ? so i think it means u cannot drive unateended unless u hav someone who has licence 3 yr + and u got 2 L plates stuck on front + bak of the vehicle of a normal B vehicle only ...
Try tesco car insurance they seem to b quite good
Without Struggle, there is NO Success
I passed my test last thursday. But... only just got my car today.
i have a 97 peugeot 306 1.9 D-Turbo, im 17 and have no convictions or anything like that.
i was just quoted £1,643.25p with churchill as fully comp on my own policy.(only £20 less third party, fire n theft:S)
no idea how i managed that, as with moneysupermarket, directline etc. i was being quoted on average around £2,800.
so in my opinion mate id give churchill a go!
quinn direct is also a growing popular choice with young drivers.
Dont forget you use cashback sites when checking insurance quotes. Dont think im allowed to name names of such examples but google "cashback sites"! You can get upto 120 cashback on your quotes!!! I got just £30 back from one site with the AA but then found another cashback site that was £120! (not for the AA though) Maybe small amounts compared to the actual insurance amount but it all helps!
Regarding named drivers getting NCB - Ask the insurer. Some advertise they offer it which implies some don't.
It might be just me but does anyone else find a quote of over £1600 for a single years insurance mind-bogglingly expensive?
Were it my dream car or I earnt £50k a year maybe I'd consider it
That's not to say a 306 D-Turbo is not a fine car, it is, but £1600?!

Quidco You're allowed to give the names of such sites (except for one...pointy site), just aslong as you don't include any referall links. Oh and you're not blatently advertising.
As long as you remember it's still fraud if you're on the policy as just a named driver but actually the person that drives the car the most, regardless of whether you earn NCB or not.
Considering the state of car insurance today, for a 17 year old that is a pretty damn good quote. When I was looking for my first car not too long ago I was getting quotes of ~£2000 for your average 1.0-1.2 little hatchback thing. That was on the phone too, not just Internet quotes. Managed to randomly get a 1.6 Focus insured for £1400 though, so went for that instead.
I got a Fiat Bravo 1.2 in the end and am insured on it for 1200 with Liverpool Victoria Have been driving for nearly 5 months now.
I just got a quite off the Prudential for my Clio, £219 TPFT... well happy! cheapest quote so far used quidco so hopefully get a little cashback
Not fair . I pay that in 2 months. I suppose you are a little older than me though (and female)
