Considuring the cars i'm looking at may be between 6 months and 18 months old, i'm sure it would invalidate the warranty. Tho i'm considuring using this car for some significant amount of time. I could quite happily get used to a 150bhp car with no mods from my current 62bhp 1.4i astra and slowly mod it when the warranty ran out.

I'm sure it would be more sensible to add mods over time, when A) my insurance is going to be cheaper, when i turn 25 in a years time and B) i'm use to running with 150bhp.

I don't want to wreck my car, as i'd have to get used to 4 wheel drive as well, and i'm sure that definitely is a noticable difference, (Total traction? - i hope)

no problem , it was where I looked when the idea of a SKoda was appealing to me .

I think the 4wd would be a better drive, although it has cons as well as pro's in that you get through tyres sat a higher rate, in addition to lower fuel economy and more to service , but at least your rear wheels are getting driven

Definitely go for a chip. One of me m8s has the Golf GTi with the same 1.8 engine and I believe the same turbo.

He got it chipped for £300 and it's now pushing out bout 204bhp with a fair bit more torque

you could get the engine remapped to either 210 or 230bhp by revo. if you go for 230 you will have to change the fuel pressure regulator which is what i did to my rs price 499 + vat
