    The recent Mercedeses (particularly CLS)

Lately I've been slightly negative in my attitude to Mercs - the reliability is no longer quite as solid and they just seemed like a waste of money. They didn't look particularly great either... Until i saw this:

    http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...e-1280x960.jpg

There's something about it's drooping shape that just oozes style and makes me feel like I'd love to have one. I mean there were a few Mercs which I'd have (in most cases only if I didn't have to pay for them, but still) - the late 90s E-class, the previous gen S-class, the new SLK. Of course there are the likes of 600 odd horse power AMGs and SLRs - but they don't count. The majority of Mercs however have been a bit dull and not really impressive enough, but I gotta say I love the CLS...

Does anyone else feel the same way? Has Mercedes seen the light? Or have you always loved them?

TBH i reckon the cls is pretty poor up close, that view and the head on are pretty nice, but rear 3/4 and from behind it looks like the top of the boot has melted with the way it kind of overhangs itself.

I do however lke the looks of the A class, which imo is a fantastic take on the supermini.

I don't like German cars as a rule - more the type of people who drive them TBH (gross generalisation I know!) but I find the CLS a really good looking car, something that the Jag S-type should have been all along. Not sure about the reliability and the condescending attitude of the Merc dealers.

Well atm, my parents have a SL350 which is a replacement car for our xj-super v8 and it has got to be the dullest car ever known to man... How can you market a two door sports coupe with a 3.5 l engine to have "dynamism and sporting prowess" when it has no real push. The base jaguar XK is miles better (from what I know) as well as being cheaper... my mum was well disappointed in the drive compared to her XKR.

Should have got an SL500 then

I was seriously considering speding £10k of my hard earned on one of those, once.

I like it from all sides, rear included. And i do like the way it swoops down - screw load space - I'll just look stylish!

I doubt I'd ever buy a Merc... Although maybe a second hand CLS in 10 years time... (bet we'll be using dingies and corackles then though )

Love the CLS, think it will be a classic in the future. All of the SL's have been absoloutly stunning looking cars and the S has always been the class of all the luxo-barges.

My dad has a CLK 500 and it is just stunning, he got it in place of a 911 (996) Carrera 4 and it is just so much more relaxing to drive and far more understated as well as rare.

As for the customer service, it does well and truely seem to be on the up. My parents have never had anything but praise for our local dealer (Tonbridge MB) and the car has been rock solid since new (now 2 years old).

Oh yeah and the C36 rules. Still trying my hardest to get one.
