My New bike - pics this time

OK, as I might have mentioned in my thread about the mirrors, I bought a motorbike.

    It's a GSX-400F 1988 model:

It's a jap import, which I didn't realise when I bought (silly me, no research when i went and looked as I didnt intend to buy), but I was really surprised by the looks and feel.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this or similar suzi's. Some immediate things I want to do with it is just to make it look nice - ie touch up the paint, get rid of those horrible MotoGP-advertisement stickers, and fix up a bit of the faring - which isn't looking so slick, a couple of cracks around the dials.

Is it typically easy enough to change the dials out for nicer ones, with new surround?

Sorry for all the questions, I just feel I'm out of an area I know, bear with me

I've heard that the rear shockers on the Jap import 400's can be a little weak/soft for Brits, due to most Japanese people being of a slighter build.. something to watch out for...

I daresay it'll be hard/expensive to get new clocks/ clock surround. I'd learn to live with it. You may be able to get the stickers off using a hairdryer to melt the glue.

All those old-skool Suzukis use air/oil cooling- the oil is part of the cooling system, and as I understand it gets a harder life as a result. I'd use some decent semi-synth and change it every 3000 miles. They're meant to be tough engines tho.

Yup, that's what I thought. Here's the proof though , down the bottom. Red looks nicer though and it is a pic of a new bike too.

Thanks for the heads up Rave, I'll take it to my local bike place tomorrow and ask them about changing the coolant oil. Shouldn't be too difficult.
