BlackBerry Pearl 8110 as a modem?

I know it can be done, and I've read several guides on the internet for tethering your phone to your mac but I just can't seem to get it to work.

    The main problems being:

    1) The guides show outdated versions of OS X so the screens displayed are incorrect

    2) All the guides I've read are for the USA so no details on carriers here in the UK is provided.

Does anyone here know how to get it working for T-Mobile UK? As I would really like to be able to use my laptop on the train without having to fork out for one of them USB dongles.

    Thanks,
    Sacred

Using your phone as a modem will cost more than getting one of the dongles. When you hear the stories of huge bills down to data usage, most cases is because of using your mobile as a modem.

Depends on what contract you are on .... So just read the fine print and ask customer services if you are unsure.

Using your phone as a modem does not need to cost more than a dongle - My contract certainly makes it cheaper.

I was under the impression I would be able to connect all the time no matter what as I pay for T-Mobiles web n' walk unlimited service.

I have the Flext + Web N Walk Plus

Can use as a modem if I wish.

But if it is just Web N Walk (not Plus or Pro) I think you are not allowed to.

There is no "unlimited" plan. FUP applies.

Re: BlackBerry Pearl 8110 as a modem?

I have something along those lines with a lesser phone(s).

    T-Mobile - £25 contract - £7.50 Web and walk - £5 to use a phone as a modem.
    Altogether that's £37.50.

I have used 2 phones with this. The N73 and more recently a cheap Sony Ericsson phone.

The downsides to this is the phones get bloody hot. I think it's mainly down to the bateries. So not so healthy for them. Also the cables for both of the phones. They get worn and the slightest bit of movement wares.

thankfully I have not got long on my contract. But I know when I get my next new phone I won't be using it for a modem with my PC.

Its not the battery that is getting hot.

Its the antenna that gets really hot when used a lot, moreso Nokias I have found when it comes to the heat
