    BlackBerry Bold [Official Thread]

    Okay Guys,

I've been using the Nokia E71 for some time now, great phone, but never really enjoyed the OS of the phone, so I've decided to switch over to the BlackBerry Bold, am planning to buy it as soon as possible.

Please do share experiences with the Bold or comments in general = )

    Re: BlackBerry Bold [Official Thread]

Only downside with Blackberrys is the web browser doesnt support a lot of common formats for videos now. Still yet to have flash on them, a lot of sites now use flash for the videos they put up (IGN, Gamespy, Eurogamer etc). Youtube works fine as it is MPeg 4. Overall they are decent phones, mainly use mine for media now must admit, I have a few personal email addresses setup on it and its quite handy.

    Re: BlackBerry Bold [Official Thread]

I have one for work (the new version) and i loathe it.
    Rubbish battery
Email constantly bleeping (work tell me i have to keep it on)
    Fiddly keyboard
    Stupidly placed charger point
No car charger with it, had to buy one
    Horrible shape
    Really crappy SatNav

If i could i would throw it in the river or give it away, its that bad.

I, like the OP, had an E71, and i found it did all the same stuff, only better.

You are making a wise choice, i still think the BB Bold is the best model out there, you probably seen the reviews but this 5/5 is about right for me........
    http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/blackberry-bold.htm

Battery can get used up fast if you keep wifi on at all times (personally i just use 3G mostly) but nice having standard usb charger options, none of those rubbish nokia/ericcson own chargers u allways need. If you forget a charger can use any standard usb lead to charge (like you have for camera etc)

Browser choice i would recommend Opera, dont forget to visit http://uk.blackberry.com/services/appworld/?

Google apps is great, and also google voice recognition is good for searching the web etc, seems to work well for me. I think you will be happy with your choice, easily best phone i have owned. -well work owns it but you know, im not complaining

OH MY GOD... I just saw a youtube video on it... does look pretty nice (E72). I kind of regret buying the blackberry now.

But to be honest I never liked the Blackberry Bold's design. It's bulkier, lighter (feels like a toy), and yeah totally rubbish battery life. Got to admit that UI is so much better looking and nicer to work with though! I guess I'll the bold for a while and see how it goes. Maybe E72 next? HHAHAHa, it's a bit early and I should enjoy my phone before looking into a new one.

The Bold has to be the best phone on the planet! although my facebook notifications thing doesn't really work anymore. i had to log out and just receive the raw email and reply through the app. anyone know how to fix that?

Hahahhaa, the Bold is great. Really is.

Hey actually yeah... my facebook app doesn't work with me, i don't get any notifications on it. I kind of gave up on it. I don't lik ethe way its set up on the blackberry bold. I liked the set up a lot better on the iPhone, will give apple credit for that. Surfing online is still the best on iPhone (with my experience). Bold does make work seem constant though. Push mail isn't necessarily good haha. Feels like you're always working, even on weekends = (

    Yes, some bold heads.

    I got the oldschool one.

This phone is dope to the core. Playing poker online using 3G? Haha hell yes. The keyboard is bliss, best phone i've ever used.

Did have a little problem with the speakers, they seemed to drop in volume alot. But this is solved by taking off the battery cover and squeezing the top together, actually makes it twice as loud.

    I want the Bold 9700 too = (

But I bought my Bold 9000 on September 16, 2009 and signed a 18 month contract... ****... LOL. I might trade in for the 9700 when it becomes available I guess...? Available as in when I have the extra cash to splurge... plus I'd feel guilty buying a new phone since I JUST bought this one...

The Nokia e72 is quite nice too = )

So is the new HTC Android Hero.... oh man... they just never stop coming... and suckers like me keep falling for them... sigh...
