VERY poor battery life on BlackBerry 8900

Hey everyone, just thought I'd ask on here if anyone has found the BlackBerry 8900 to have really dire battery life. I bought it for my girlfriend for Christmas, but it won't last a full day without needing to be charged. She said all she uses it for is emails, texting, calls and Facebook, so I thought it was likely to be taking a hammering over the data connection, but the last few days I've been with her, she's hardly touched it, and it's still died within six hours. I've turned off the GPS and Wi-Fi, and I can't think of anything else offhand that would run the battery down so quickly. It looks likely that it needs to be sent back, but that will take two weeks and she'll be sad without Facebook to poke people on... I wondered if anyone else has had this problem, and knew anything to be done about it. I don't know anything else to try to turn off, as my phone has none of this new power draining technology! Any advice would be appreciated!

Install the Blackberry desktop manager that is on the CD in the box. Then update the device software by connecting it up to the PC and starting the desktop manager.

Once the software is updated the power management is improved and you should get a few days out of the battery

Make sure Bluetooth is off too... although I've noticed that my storm takes a hammering on battery if I take or receive a call... it can go all day on texts/facebook data etc - sometimes 30+ hours on one charge.

if she's making calls then she'll probably need to top it up on battery.

Also make sure the wireless is turned off if its not in use as that REALLY drains the battery.

Regardless though, update the device software like I mentioned in my previous post, there are a lot of fixes included in the updates

Hey guys, Bluetooth is off.. I forgot to say that went out with the Wi-Fi and GPS. My girlfriend says she's updated the software before, and it's still at the newest version. Looks like it's back to the shop with this one, but thanks for your suggestions!
