    Pimp Ya Salad Cream

Every once in a while an act of genius or serendipity brings forth a product that has a profound effect on humanity.

Examples include the lightbulb, internal combustion engine, telephone, radio, television, integrated circuit, VCR, personal computer, internet, DVD and...

    ....stay-clean sauce-bottle cap.

    Inside view - Left, new-gen stay-clean cap;
right, old-style mucky cap (click for larger image)

But, sadly, this latest invention has not yet been adopted by all sauce makers and not even across the range by Heinz, whose idea, it seemingly was.

    So...

...fed up with having a drippy Salad Cream bottle,

    Standard drippy
    Salad Cream bottle

I checked whether the Stay Clean cap from an empty Tomato Sauce bottle would fit.

To my delight, I found that it did.

And, the pimped bottle Salad Cream not only stays clean but looks a whole lot sexier, too.

    Customised Salad Cream
bottle - with Stay Clean cap

Currently, though, as you can see, there's a bit of a mismatch between Tomato Sauce and Salad Cream.

    Visual dischord

So, some further changes will be required for the mod to be complete and for me to be totally happy with the pimping job:

1/ The main labels (front and back) need to be removed, rotated 180 degrees and replaced

2/ Trickier still, the same will have to happen to the label on the neck of the bottle

But, these are things that must to wait for a less busy time.

either fill with cold water and let condensation do your work, or holt it above a boiling kettle

    nice work so far Bob

as a bonus, the bottle is less likely to fall over too.

hahaha, that is absolutely brilliant! good work man. I think you should probably fit a PS2 in the rear of the salad cream bottle....and maybe a voice clip of xzibit that plays every time you use the bottle.

I would go with some blue neons for the illumination, possibly an extra fan also to help keep it cool.

How about a widget from a smiths can or something that pressurises when you pop the lid? No more having to squeeze the bottle, just open and it squeezes itself

Although they are stay clean caps, I HATE THEM!!

First of all, ketchup should only be consumed from a glass container!

Secondly, I just can't work those stay clean caps - either nothing or eveything comes out, you can't just have a little bit on the side of your plate. The amount of times I have had more ketchup on my plate than food due to those damn caps is a joke!

That was what I thought when I last bought a bottle - but I was wrong and was so hacked off at how the product handled that I felt I had no choice but to attempt a modding job.

Hopefully, if you find the same, then you won't have to go through all the blood, sweat and tears that I did and will be able, instead, to figure things out more easily by reference to the pics that I posted.
