Voted for buy a new psu - usually because when I put together a new system for myself my old one gets passed on to family members - plus it guarantees that you have all the required connectors.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 1

For a complete build it's a new PSU - I don't buy cases with PSUs preinstalled as I've yet to find one which meets my requirements.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good

I buy a new one for each build if its for me. If I'm building a cheapy one for family or friends then will used the one that comes in the case.

    I agree with agent hear.

the last major upgrade I did I had to upgrade my psu as my old one couldn't cope, so I spent money this time on a better psu which "should" last me for a good long time.

I currently have a corsair 620 HX so unless I have the extra money to go sli, I will reuse my current powersupply when I rebuild my pc this summer.

I would tend to reuse the PSU if I can as unlike other components PSU's seem to get more expensive.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 1

Usually a new PSU, as I've either bought pre-made, or in the two builds I've done, I've been replacing a very old system.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 1

I buy a new PSU with a new build, as I tend to leave an upgrade long enough to justify a newer PSU and don't buy a crazy insane model at that point in time... only what I need

    ...

then flog it to a mate who tends to be a generation or so behind me

If the old PSU is decent and up to scratch, I keep it. If not, I get a new one. Simple

I reuse the PSU, of course, until the old one dies or is not powerfull enough

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 1

Well I generally spec my PSU up so that it can power my system exactly right. Therefore I don't have a lot of excess power and have to buy a new unit with every new build. But that's ok since: 1.I don't go for the ultimate models and 2.better products have been released.

Re: When do you buy a new PSU? Poll 1

What I would do depends on circumstances.

I rarely use a PSU that comes with the case because I rarely buy a case that comers with a PSU.

As for getting a new one or reusing an existing one, it all depends on what I've got that's spare and what the demands of the new system are. I could well do either.
