    Corsair HX850

    Just bought a HX850.........

On opening the package I can immediately see someting Corsair have missed out............

Why did you not put the red carpet in

Seriously though I think I can see where Corsair is coming from.

They waited until all the main manufacturers had put all their new PSU's on the market then they decided to put theirs out.
I believe they took every ones elses to Channel Well and said you must make ours better in every way without compromise which they did.
Then they upped the packaging to make it fit for a King on his birthday.
Finally they made the price better than all other quality PSU's.

Corsair if this PSU was a horse in the Grand National I would remortgage the house and put every penny I had on it. This is the biggest winner I have ever seen.

    Well done and thank you.

    Re: Corsair HX850

I agree, when I build my i5 rig later this year, I'll look no further than the HX750 or 850 depending on my needs. From the reviews done, it seems to perform just as well as any of the the other models which have been released lately from competing top tier brands.

    Re: Corsair HX850

I like the look of the HX850 and was considering it for my new computer build. There are a number of different reviews out there (all seem to be good). However are there any significant design differences between the UK and US versions? I would hate to buy one only to find completely different internals.

Correct. There is no difference in the internals.

    Re: Corsair HX850

What's the noise level like on these units? The CWT-based Corsairs always used to be rather noisy compared to the Seasonic ones. The 750W TX and 550W VX are meant to be louder than their 650/450 counterparts and the HX1000 I had was especially bad. However, Corsair one-up Zalman because they actually provide a power cable

    Re: Corsair HX850

It's purely subjective, of course, and the PC is on the floor under a desk but I can't hear the PSU at all (HX750) and it's not in a noisy system either.

    Re: Corsair HX850

A prebuilt system using a Corsair PSU is a big positive sign in my book. Most manufacturers only get as far up the quality scale as Coolermaster.

    Re: Corsair HX850

CWT is still good though, the review looking inside the psu show it to be very well put together with quality components.

    Re: Corsair HX850

The Corsair CWT units in particular are still good, but I daresay I prefer the Seasonic ones. Then again, I'm a bit of a Corsair sellout really because for all I recommend them, I got rid of my HX520W and HX1000W for a Nexus Value 430W and Zalman ZM850-HP respectively because they're both much quieter units. My third PC is an Antec EarthWatts 380W because it was an unusable part for a PC I upgraded for someone, so I kept it Could do with changing though, it gets quite noisy quite quickly :S

    Re: Corsair HX850

just like me i seem to have a preference towards seasonic built units. even the corsair cx400 is an awsome little unit. these days i build low power machines and a good 250-300w psu would be more than enough for those machines.

Exactly, where's the Corsair CX 250W with no pci-e connectors for £25?

    Re: Corsair HX850

i dont think seasonic or CWT make a PSU which has less than 330w unless its a mini itx form factor or something so not sure if corsair were to make such a unit who they could go to for a quality product.
