    New htpc setup - pics!

Scan had the silverstone lc17s on today only for £48 - so i thought it was too good to miss so picked one up to replace my old pc case

    Specs

    MSI K8N Platinum NF4 s939
    Athlon64 4200 x2 Toledo @1.2v
    AMD X2 Heatpipe cooler
    2x512mb OCZ EB CAS 2.5 @ 1T
    Club3D X1600 Pro AVIVO pci-e
    Nova-t 500 Dual TV Tuner
    1x Samsung SP120 SATA2 200gb
    NEC 5170 DL DVD+/-RW
    Antec 380w Truepower
    Silverstone LC17 with 2x80mm & 1x120mm Nexus fans
    Vista 32bit Home Premium

Changing from the old case with 2 x 120mm nexus fans has dropped my temps from 49 load to 40 load, idle seems to be around the 34 mark - nice

'Borrowed' the idea from a more impressive build from silentpcreview.com for the hard drive foam mounts and 120mm air chamber to silence and cool the samsung hard drive...

the finished article - just in time for the gf to record HollyOaks!

    up close and personal

    the guts

view of the air chamber and htpc (yeah will work on the cables some more - the psu ain't modular! )

    the hdd chamber and dampening

    Cheers

    very nice

i wanted to do mine into a low profile case but it probably wont fit everything I want if I do.

Does your hard drive mounting work? looks a bit fiddley

Very nice. When I rebuild my main rig I'm tempted to do something similar. Either that, or get an XBMC...

absolutely - reused the foam packaging that came with the case, needed me to get cutting with my leatherman multi-tool, bit of 'no more nails' and some sellotape created the cradle. Put some acousti foam that I had left over from dampening my sonata under neath the drive and to the sides = silent hdd with no audible seeks

stands free nice and easy with the aire being drawn from the front, over and around the hdd and into the main chamber to the two nexus exhausts at 12v (inaudible)
