I've been out this afternoon buying materials for my next case mod.
I needed some bits that B&Q would never stock in a million years, so I got out the yellow pages and started work. One of my first buys was a beautiful offcut of african mahogany (This is going to be a 'special' case) from a local sawmill. At £2 it was less than the cost of a bit of mangy warped and splintered pine from B&Q. As the afternoon continued I bought veneer, glass, MDF, Polish, a Router, all for a fraction of B&Q's prices. Sure I had to drive around about 20 miles in total, but I think I've saved about £50, and have some very unique materials. Even if you can't be bothered with that, at least consider ordering online (www.diytools.co.uk www.decoratingdirect.co.uk) and save on a much wider range of better quality products!
Any interest in a project log, as my case unfolds?
