    Tool & Malerials tips.

I've got a hankering to mod up a case and I'm just wondering:

1- Tools? what tools do you have/use for what jobs?

    2- Paints? which paints?

3- Materials? not so much as which more a question of where? Where can someone who's not in the building/repair/machineing trade go to get things like; metal sheeting, Plexiglass/Acrylic sheets, meshes, etc, etc.
(note I have had a look at http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Case_Bits.html but there prices seem a bit high)

I'm Planning too although not an actual drimmel as if I had £60 to spend in one go, it'd go on pc hardware

I was looking at one of these

    Or something simular.

Copper sheet & rod may be a bit more difficult to source in the quantity you want. Scan the yellow pages for steel/metal stockists & phone around.

I got one of those when i used to work there. Was absolutely atrocious. Took me the guts of 2 hours to do about a 2 inch cut in the top of my stacker (c.2m ali) before i gave up and went and borrowed my dads jigsaw. Even a cheapy jigsaw with a metal blade will be more use for cutting fan holes etc.

Metal sheeting of all sorts, in reasonably small quantities, were available in the last big BnQ I went into, along with some cool looking mesh I was tempted to use for a mod.
When I wanted to get a small square of UV reactive blue plexi I found a supplier on fleaBay, emailed them the dimensions, and they sorted me out pretty well. Sorry I can't remember their name.
For cutting holes in cases, as long as you're just doing straight lines you can buy a pack of 5 good hacksaw blades and save the cost and time of a multitool. You'll get blisters mind.
As for paints, you can get spraycans of car paint which should do the job fairly well (if used carefully - ie. applied laboriously in very thin coats using proper spraypainting technique)

Yeah the maplin one. Its pants. A decent jigsaw for long cuts, and a drill/holesaw combo for fan holes.
