the p5k series what does all that extra money get you?

Could someone please tell me the differences between theses motherboards, from what i saw on the asus site there was none between p5k-e and p5k delux! but there is around a £20 difference what do you get for your money?

    whats the difference between :-

    p5k-e wifi
    p5k delux wifi
    p5k3 delux wifi
    p5k premium wifi

    Thanks

    P5K3 uses DDR3

    What does that mean?

Why would you want two ethernet ports? can you get double the speed?

Re: the p5k series what does all that extra money get you?

It means that they redesigned the power circuitry on the board to improve it compared to the P5K Deluxe but otherwise it's largely the same.

So that you can connect to 2 networks or share a connection between 2 PCs daisy-chained.
Some ethernet ports can be teamed to increase speed (as long as the source can also increase speed to suit) but I don't know if the ones on the Asus can do that.

Re: the p5k series what does all that extra money get you?

yeah i had a look at that neilsson but couldn't work out what the real differences were so i had to ask.

If I have around £100.00 to spend would people recommend the p5k delux wifi or is there a newer card out now. I really want pc8500 ram so it would have to have that and i have a q6600 which i want to overclock. I also have evga 8800gts but games aint my biggest issue, i want stable and heat removing board.

    thanks

I can recommend the p5k-e using it myself or an abit board is good too. I Seen some stuff about some of the gigabyte boards not overclocking which put me of although it might have been 1 model only.

This is a better guide for the differences between the Asus P5K boards:

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

I agree with Buff, get the P5K-E wifi if you want an Asus P35 board. It's only missing some extra heatsinks and the second lan port from the motherboard compared to the P5K Deluxe.

Re: the p5k series what does all that extra money get you?

I'm in a similar situation when it comes to the head scratching about Asus... Looking to plump for a Q6600 (See main hardware section for new thread) and that means I want to get a decent OC board, but not necessarily too many extras (like Wifi, dual LAN etc).

But looking at the chart above, the P5K-E seems to be exactly the same. Does the better power circuitry and cooling help the Premium that much more than the E? The P5K-E It does look better VFM but doh - just checked - and Scan dont do it - and I'd rather get delivery in one go.

EDIT - Duh - scan DO do it - i didnt see that there was a second page and then Buff duly beats me down
