bored and just finished building this up for the 2nd time

Gave myself a £350 budget to build the little lady a xmas/congrats on getting into med school present

So here it is



Specs are,

AMD X2 5000+ 2.6ghz black edition + scythe ninja (i just like them, even in a tiny case )
Asus M2A-VM 690G
2GB Geil Ultra PC6400
Western Digital 320GB AAKS
Samsung SATA dvd writer
Corsair VX 450w (should have got something modular )
Silverstone TJ-08 (she's a typical girl and likes small cases )
Asus Wireless card (best £10 you can spend on a pc)
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 and Akasa Rainbow LED 120mm fans.

The cpu has auto clocked itself to 2.8GHz and under everest and coretemp shows, -3 , 6 degrees ,so somethings gone wrong there lol but its nice and cool in the bios, around 20 degrees.
Runs nice and quiet with the fan mate on the LED fan as it's quite noisey otherwise. If anyone knows a decent silent rainbow LED fan then let me know!

Way I figure it...it's cheaper than an engagement ring

you should set rmclock on there if its oced, you can have a sort of cool and quiet while utilizing the oced power when its needed. nice job tho cables are nice and tidy

The Scythe Ninja looks truely comical in a case that small

I take it that the fan doesn't fit on the side, so the air doesn't get blown towards the rear fan?

the ninja's fan fits the right way round but the hard drive doesn't with it that way round.

Actually the hard drive is a bit of a bodge..it's in the floppy drives external bay but it works so it don't mind too much.

it probably would fit, just but would be hard up against the drive plugs.
The TJ08 is a great wee mATX case but HSFs run close to the drive cage - think that I'm going to try an Ultima 90 & see how that fits.

Theres room for the hard drive in the correct place as it is now but you need right angled sata cables and i'm all out.

Only thing I might do it mount a fan underneath the hard drive so it gets a bit of fresh air

I was torn between the ninja and the ultima, in retrospect the ultima would have been the much better option but nevermind can always change it..as i've got my eye on the ninja anyway..can finally retire my Freezer pro lol

Scarily similar. I havn't had a chance to play with overclocking yet but the the unlocked multiplier will make it nice and straight forward when I find the time.

DVD decrypter took 7 minutes to copy a 90 minute movie and AutoGK ripped it to 700mb .avi in an hour and 10 minutes which is nipping at the heels of my main rig.

The AM2 HSF mounting is much less fiddly than intel (especially with the ninja).

All in all i'm very happy with the AMD setup. As I always seem to notice.. it feels faster than intel for desktop stuff.

i only tucked the unused PSU wires into the spare 5.25" slot for that photo cause it would have just looked like spaghetti

whats the small back box in the bottom left? i dont have one of those!

Modular would deffaintly be the way to go for this size but I just couldn't warranty the extra power of something like a 520w HX.

All i did with mine was bundle them all up, short and wide..take the two mobo power cables and one sata power cable out.. and then stuff them all in the extra 5.25" bay.

Had to be done as the PSU was going in though so it was interesting to say the least.
