copper cases

bunked off work for a few hours on friday for a quick look around my local maplin & spotted an anodised copper ATX case - this one to be exact

the link doesn't really do it justice cos imho it looked a lot better than that - i'm surprised this hasn't been thought of before due to coppers heat conductivity (well, heatsinks aren't made of it for nothing!)

anyway, what are our opinions on a copper case....hot or not....would you be happy to own one or not be seen dead with one

The problem is that the case material makes little or no difference to the temperatures inside the case. The advantage aluminium has over steel or copper is that it is very light and easily bent/cut to form the case. Hence why no one has produced lots of copper cases but aluminium ones are commonplace

also copper oxidises quickly, so itll soon turn brown, unless they are finished somehow?

Copper is really dense, i think my zalman flower is as heavy as a brick..what would a full case weigh :|

Yea, copper oxidises to go brown, then green like roofs of old houses. Also, it loves to breed bacteria iirc, - like when you put your fingers on copper heatsinks, you get a nice fingerprint that sticks. Its also far far more dense than alu, so makes it well heavy. Alu forms an environmentally inert outer Al2O3 layer, anodising increases the thickness of this layer too, hardening the surface.
