Umm sort of, you needed a flat bladed screwdriver and a bit of force to get the retention clip on. I seem to remember the main danger was damageing the lug on the socket the clip clipped onto as the thin metal could cut through it.
The intell push pins are tooless but can also require a bit of force the first time (my motherboard was noticable bent the first time I put my stock cooler on) and can be a little confusing to a total novice/first try
But after you used them a couple of times they are pritty easy to get on and off.
Oh and I'd agree jay_oasis, at least t about getting the right amount on can make a big differnce.
But at the same time some of the heat spreaders on the intell chips can be rather concave which really mucks up trying to get thin layer of paste.
My pentium D cooler came covered with a good 1mm slab of paste (not the 3 strips you get on C2D or C2Q) and even then it was so concave it wasn't makeing great contact in the middle, lapping it flat (not to a polish finish but just roughtly flat) and reduceing the paste knocked about 5c off my temps.
:)Well looking at your computing area, you put mine to shame, you have two monitors and two or three computers? :surprised: Im only 13 and I have some good hardware but my computers in the office, I have always wanted a cozy gaming area with everying stacked neatly, several computers ramped up with hardware.
