    Computer Mod Ideas

    Hey guys,
I have the coolermaster Cm690 case and am thinking about modding it. For starters i am gonna install a window and another fan at the front but i wanted to get some ideas on what i could do with the case. Its gonna be aircooled so no water cooling holes required...all ideas are welcome....this is the case below...

    Re: Computer Mod Ideas

Must admit that I cannot think of much to do to this case, it's a great one as is

Side pannel Window? maybe if you like that kind of thing.
Personally I'd not add a 2nd fan at the front, generally speaking air going out is better than air going in.

Depends on what cpu cooler you have, it you have a tower varity then consider this.
Have the tower cpu cooler pointing up.
Use 2 matching 120mm fans in the two top bays sucking air out. (ether get two fans or use the rear and side pannel ones)
Make sure the rear fan is weaker than the two top fans.

This setup will give you 2 fans sucking out the hot air stright out of the cpu cooler in a clean path/flow.
If you just stick 2 fans above the cpu and it's a tower design in a "normal" configuration (ie fan blowing through the cooler towards the rear case fan) then these two top fans can actually interfear with the smmoth flow of air, esp the forward top fan as it will be infront of the cooler fan and so will be fighting with it for the same air.

Thinking about this, you could put a small (not the whole side) window in the side pannel where the upper fan grill is, blocking off this hole will help air get drawn in from the front of the case.
I would personally keep the lower side pannel fan in place, simply as it draws in cool air from out side the case stight to and around the graphics card, esp with the 8800GT You could even make some ducting to help feed the card stright from the fan.

Or how about, Stick in a big side window removeing both fan grills. then mount a fan in the bottom fan slot and make some ducting to feed the air from it stright to the graphics card.
