    Full ATX small chassis

As title suggests really what is the smallest full ATX chassis out there? is it even possible?

Need to be able to achieve four hard drives and a DVD-RW.

    Re: Full ATX small chassis

    Lian-Li PC05A

Has the PSU at the front, so the height is restricted by the length of a full-size ATX board and you won't be able to get much shorter. The airflow isn't bad with front and rear 120mm fans, but does need something at the top to stop stagnant air getting trapped. The airflow is also back to front. It will hold your hard drives and DVD as well.

The other one was from Scan and was a case shaped like an X. It's very expensive though at >£200, and I'm not sure if it could fit 4 hard drives. Funky looking though!

I have this and I prefer it so much over my old Antec P180 for weight, oh goodness! The cooling performance is good but there is a hotspot above the VGA. Having said that in games or whatever it never shows up, only when hitting overclocking limits for benchmarks which not everyone is into (and besides, it's not cheating to take your side panel off and get a desk fan blowing in there... right? )

Its really spacious inside because it's a bit wider than your average case, only by an inch or so but you can tell when it's opened up, loads of space for hiding wires behind the motherboard tray, plenty of space for everything really. Got an 8800gts in there with no issues.

The stock fans are slightly louder stock than I'm used to and I've been meaning to replace them with nexus / yate loons / scythes (I'm scared of loosing airflow as there is only one intake and one exhaust, as apposed to the 2 intakes / 3 exhausts of the p180) but haven't got round to it, ambient noise tends to cover them up it's just if you leave it on when you go to bed it is noticable (but if you stop the fans it's effectively silent, very effectively designed acoustic properties on the case - I'm just too lazy to change the damn noisy fans [lian li shouldn't ship with fans imo, it's a modders case anyway]).

edit: only has 3 3.5" internal bays but has one external 3.5" and 2 external 5.25" inch, I personally would opt for putting the fourth one in a 5.25" bay as there are no sound dampening options available if you decide to lump it with the 3.5" external bay.
