    Antec 1200 Build

    Hi Guys,

I got the new Antec 1200 and thought I'd post some photos of the build (Mainly cos SiM wanted to see )

I haven't got any good pictures at the moment but some water cooling stuff is coming soon so I'll do a re-build of it and take lots of pictures.

    Watch this space...

What are your impressions of the case so far? Is is worth double the 900? Since you have used both, give us a short comparison (minimum 200 words please)

    Re: Antec 1200 Build

Lets see, if you have big components like the 9800GTX or 8800's the 1200 definitely helps.
I have my 3 hdd's on the 3rd hdd cage which is near the graphics card and I have no problems fitting them in. There's no cramping and such, it may be because the graphics pci-e power connectors face outwards instead of to the front of the case. I also like the black finish, sure you can do that with the 900 and some spray paint. My TRU 120 fit's fine in there with the side fan which with the 900 it couldn't.

I'd say it's worth the extra £50 only if you have a lot of components. The 900 could handle my 2900XT (big card) and 3 hdd's fine but there was some space probs but nothing a bit of time and cable routing couldn't handle. I had to put the hdd's on the most lower deck for the 900, but since I can put it in the 3rd deck on the 1200 I can now fit a D5 pump below. The 1200 has the same front port cabling as the 900, ie if I didn't need a cable I could tuck it at the top where there's a little gap that cables can be hidden above the CD drive.

The cable tidy holes in the motherboard tray are a godsend though. All my cables are routed behind and the space behind is adequate. They included lots of cable ties to tighten your routed cables to the side and there's lots of holes to secure them to.

I have all the cables routed behind and theres like 1.5cm I think of space from mobo tray to side panel for your cabling to be packed in. My EPS12V and P4 Connectors can reach the top of mobo just fine as well so I'll measure the lengths of my cables so people looking to buy one can know if your psu cables will reach or not.

I really like the adjustable fans from the front and the rear. It does sound like a jet engine all on full though

It is just like a 900 with more space for more components. But do remember it has 4 fan filters which are washable so for the 900 you'd have to buy 3 x £2.99 filters.

There's no sharp edges and the case has a lot of screws. If you have lots of hard drives and you like to use 4 screws for a hard drive like me then it'll take some time screwing them in by hand

It's an elongated Antec 900 and is only worth it if you want to watercool or have lots of components. There's quite a lot of space above the mobo where I think a radiator could go.

I love it really and I really love my PSU for having the right amount of cables. I'm only using 4 modular cables which makes everything so tidy! I have 1 modular cable with 4 sata connectors connected to the hdd's and dvd drive and 1 modular cable with 4 molex connectors for all the fans.
The other two are the PCI-E power connectors. My first ever cable tidying as well but I think I'd make staffsMike proud

Right now I'm finding stable settings for my ram and CPU but pics will be here soon I promise!

Good stuff! Is there any case temp difference? (Well I know the weather has changed since you had you 900, but there still may be a noticeable difference.)

Well I can't tell, I had an AMD 939 System when I had my 900 and it was exactly a year or 2 ago I think. The mobo temp is 31 and my hdd's are all at 22c. I haven't tested under load yet.

Found one I took on the Build Day

I was tidying the cables a bit. I'll try to take clearer pictures for the rest of the stuff.

I've no idea Fifth, tbh I don't know why Scan don't stock items that are guaranteed to sell like this. They are a bit slow sometimes but you can ask them here http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...cts-us-22.html

I remember asking for a Thermalright Ultra 120 in January 07 when I joined, they didn't get any until April iirc. I had already bought one from CCLOnline by that time. eBuyer will have some in stock in a months time, Overclockers already have some and the only cheapest at the moment is Novatech. If you don't mind waiting for Scan to get some then ask them and keep on their tails until they finally do stock it.
