I think it would be possible, check this wiki out:

Thermochromism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems that the dyes often go between a protonated and deprotonated state which means that you would be producing ions in the solution which would increase electrical conductivity and reduce thermal conductivity so may not be suitable. Also price could be an issue.

You should send an email to feser!

i suppose you could set it up yourself with a small circuit that turns a different LED on dependant on temperature but you would need a few LEDs the make the whole loop illuminate.

but as to a coolant that does it automatically, i have no idea. you can get thermochromic ink so im guessing that somwhere will have it...

I don't think this would be possible. Any chemical that could do this would either be corrosive to the pipes and / or the blocks or electrically conductive. Its a good idea though, if there was such a liquid I may drain my system for it.

TakTa's idea could be taken a little further using UV leds. So that the colant appears to glow more when its at higher temps? Might look cool

you could always run 2 different colour EL wires along the tubes... but you would still need to make a sensor circuit.

you can use the clear/blue uv tubimg and colored coolant, so when the uv light is on you have blue glowing, when its off it's the coolant's color
