Antec P180B - fans not working

Hi,

I built my own system about a year ago, using an Antec P180B case. I didn't replace any of the 3 supplied fans.

Yesterday, in the process of tracking down a memory problem I discovered that the 2 fans at the top of the case are no longer working, on any speed setting! It may well have been like this for quite a while, the spontaneous failure of one of my RAM modules certainly hints at overheating. Anyway, I've checked the power connections and they all seem fine. Interestingly, they do occasionally "twitch", as if trying to start up, so there definitely is at least some power reaching them.

Anyone have any ideas what may be the problem? Insufficient power (I don't see how)? Or are they just plain broken? In which case, can anyone recommend any cheap, reasonably quiet replacements?

Sounds like they are bit knackered. Are they powered straight from the PSU like in the P182?

Sharkoon Silent eagle/golf balls are very cheap and are as quiet as the antec fans on low.

Thanks for the reply. One other question: I assume that if I replace the fans I can no longer use the speed controls on the back of the case?

Edit: and yes, they are powered straight from the PSU.

EDIT: I don't think you can use the controller no, got a bit confused but had a quick look at my P182 lol

If you get the sharkoons don't bother with a controller as it only pushes enough air to be useful at full speed. It is very quiet though.

If you want a cheap fan controller then there is the zalman fanmate, costs about £3
