    Fan for the TRUE heatsink

Sorry for how many times Mike has read a thread like this

The TRUE heatsink seems to be different in that its spacing between the fins is much smaller than other heatsinks and this apparantly requires a different fan. What is the most ideal fan for this particular heatsink, trying to keep it as quiet as possible. Since overclocking is in order (Q6600 to about 3.2GHz) what sort of speeds are roughly required to provide sufficient yet quiet enough cooling on the TRUE.

Re: Fan for the TRUE heatsink

This is the fan I am using with my TRUE and its working very well Its quiet and provides enough airflow to cool my CPU efficiently. I only get around 30C on my CPU while at 50% loaded(doing the folding@home) and it has not gone over 48C yet even with prime95 stressing the cores to the max.

The spacing of the fins doesn't require a specific type of fan because a fan can only do one thing, push air. There isn't a specific way in which to push air through smaller fins better than to push it through bigger ones. Pushing air is pushing air however you do it or whatever it travels through it remains the same. The smaller fins however allow better cooling efficiency when air flows through them because the air is divided over a greater surface area so allows better cooling of the heatsink for less airflow.

Re: Fan for the TRUE heatsink

    I have this
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=396304
but only if you have a fan controller as its rather loud on full speed, it does come with a low speed wire though.

otherwise this will be good too

Spacing of fins is important for the type of fan used, some fans are very bad against tight grills/fins/radiators. So fans that have good static pressure will in general do better than those with poor static pressure
One example would be the Noctua NF-S12 series, very poor performers against rads or tight fins, but fine in open air.
