Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

    http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...cat=561&page=2

Are quite tempted to give them a shot with a system I'm thinking about putting together. It'll reduce the flow a bit I'd imagine, but from everything I've read its really not that important these days?
Thinking about having a bit 3*120mm double height rad. external to the case

    Any comments?

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

i guess with a decent pump they should be fine, kicking myself for not using them now, but i have decided to go the fillport route after the mobo blew this week and i had to drain the system.

at least i still have the flow and an added T piece in each of the 2 loops will allow me to drain it down with a bit of spare pipe hooked up.

will be leaving the fill ports tied up so i can use them to drain with

I'm surprised no-one has used these sooner.

They might reduce flow a little, but they will increase turbulence so you don't need those fancy dibled hoses Nick was going on about in wone of his video spots

I have a hydror L30....decent pump, has good reviews everywhere.

Thinking about upgrading it though to something a bit smaller, size wise. Annoying thing is that most of the small ones are 1/2" barbs that are built in. Only going to be using 10mm

Laing DDC pumps (10 and 18 watt) use 10mm outlets if you dont change the standard tops.

Does your Hydor connect through molex Agent?

Like Colossus said the DDC series uses the 10mm 3.8" fittings. They do cost more and pump less and they get very hot

But the nice thing is you can use a plexitop reservoir on them which is a nice feature.

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

Nar, its the mains with a switcher on the PSU so it only powers up when the system is on

The DDC look nice - pricey, but nice
Heat and less flow is a bit of a turn off though. I've not had time to calculate if my current cooling idea will work, lol

Digital Voltage reg's, CPU, graphics, and northbridge all on one loop, cooled via http://www.thecoolingshop.com/produc...oducts_id/2483 and maybe an additional single 120mm rad if needed.

Current GPU is 9800GTX, so a fair bit of heat there. Upgrading to a quad at some point too....and the voltage reg's ain't exactly cool when running flat out. Hummm....

Starting to think 2 loops may be better.....just more money and another pump

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

As long as you have airflow in your case over the DDC's they wont get that hot
If you haven't got much room for 2 pumps in your dual loop DDC's are ideal.
I wonder if there are 1/2 to 3/8 converters.

    I found these on google.

    http://www.cdaquatics.co.uk/catalog/...cer-p-585.html

You could do a conversion on your current pump without having to change ;D

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

Current pump has welded connections - can't be changed. I guess I really need to find out if this is good enough first....the size it just a pain in the arse

Any idea is that rad would cool everything on that loop? One of you guys will probably know quicker than it takes me to dig out all the thermal dissipation rates / wattage etc

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

Hmm welded.. You could always use some cable ties and a bit of 1/2" tubing to connect them up

Would restrict the flow a bit I suppose. The Thermochills aren't that expensive for no reason
I'm sure that 120.3 would cool that lot, but I'll take a looksie to be sure.

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

Ohhh, if only it was that simple
Its push-type (the blue things)...I prefer compression myself. I'm not looking to move from 10mm though so they'll be staying if I use it

The more I think about it though, the harder this looks. Don't think im going to fit all 4 things in a single loop very easily. Plus its a pain to take out if needed

I was hoping you'd sort out the rest
Seems the PA 120.3 can cool that lot. On XS alot of users run alot more through one of those

Don't use low pressure fans though as they can't pull enough air through. If you are going quad wouldn't you want to stick with the 1/2" barbs/tubing?

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

i run 2 loops, dual 8800gtx's and cpu on 1 lop with the 120.3

both mofsets, nb & sb as they get fekin hot otherwise on a pa160

got the 18w DDC's with the EK 140mm res tops and 1/2" barbs.

the good thing is you can buy the ek 50mm res clips and bolt em to the side of the case to mount the pumps above an inlet to keep them cool, they do get rather warm otherwise.

its not tidy but i dont care as theres no window lol

How do you bolt them? Gotta drill holes in the case?

Re: Anyone used these? (Watercooling - quick release)

u see the mesh on the side of the case where they are ?, it was the perfect size for a 6mm bolt to go through, saved me any additional cutting after chopping the 440x120mm hole in the top lol
