Braid and shrink wrap

I'm looking at re braiding afew psu leads and extension cables.

Quick question, do i have to remove and replace the lead ends to get the braid and wrap on?

I may well have to re-do the ATX 24 pin power plug too, that is how do we put it... huge.. so any help would be good.

It looks good. Seems like it'll be much easier than dismantling plugs to sleeve cables.

After the interesting results in my attempts to run RJ45 cable i dislike cut and snip.

My only thought on that product is that it will open out. Basically when you bend the newly sheathed cable it will open up showing the cabling inside.

has anyone actually used this stuff?

I take it shrink wrap is simple enough, put on, apply steam, hey presto smaller tube!

I used this kit when I did it, comes with the tools, and as long as you have reasonable dexterity it won't take more than an hour

Well yeah... if you just leave it as-is. But you should finish it off at the ends with some shrink wrap, to prevent that happening

I do know about shrink wrapping it....

I just thought that over a say 30cm braided cable it would open up, unless you put some more shrink wrap bands at intervals.

If you want to braid your PSU and other cables then will just have to have the time and patience to remove and then replace the connectors. Its not that difficult just fiddly and time consuming. Will also need the right tools or you will go mad.

The Flexwrap braiding is too large for fan/led cables etc

im in the middle of tidying up my cables and thinking of using spiral wrap which you dont need to remove the plugs. Just a thought.

Or use water cooling anti kink spiral 'stuff'.

I'm going to redo my new psu with all new braiding.

I may well get a kit as it comes with the tools although i could just use needle nosed pliers.

Are the tools you get any good or would i better off just plier...ing my way through
