    Dominator 690 advice

ANyone used this case before? Just a fancy version of the 690 at a guess, but looks nice. Opinions please. Or if anyone has any better ideas around that budget or less!

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

its the same as the normal 690 apart from some small changes which are, green trims instead of silver and the side panel is the £10/£15 addon you can buy and the window is green instead of clear. Thats all, not sure on the current price of the normal one so cant say if its worth it.

The case in general the case is great, fits a 9800GTX which is a big card so i think the gtx280 would fit great, nice cable managment and loada of room for fans. Has good hard drive bays that dont scratch the hd while taking it in and out lol. Only downside is that i found the side panels are not as strong as they could be, might just be me as im used to using a chieftec case(the side panels were VERY thick).

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

the front intake LED fan is green coloured instead of blue.

other than that the CM690 is a good case, its a bit more expensive compared to release (I got mine for about £50) but that is the side window version which alone costs about £10-15.

For that money I don't think you'd find an equal in terms of aircooling and features.

I upgraded my CM690 to a HAF-932, £110 which is quite a bit above your budget, but you get a whole lot more for your money.

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

Don't forget the prices on XCase are excluding VAT so you will be looking at £82.25 (delivery is free)

Antec 900 would be £70 including VAT and delivery from eBuyer. £75 + Delivery from Scan unless you get 13 more posts and get the free delivery offer for Hexus members

You can get the standard 690 with a windowed side panel from eBuyer for £76.16 or without window for £65.95

So I guess it all depends on if you want to spend an extra £6 to have nvidia logos, and green trim.

Just to chuck a spanner in the works you might also want to have a look at the NZXT Tempest and Lexa cases as well as the Hiper Anubis and Osiris

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

yea the 900 is tempting and i think after looking at the full price for the 690 its that little bit too much!

I knew someone would mention those other cases lol i have been looking at them as well, but im now stuck between the 900 and the nzxt tempest.

In terms of nosie which would be the quitest as looks wise they are pretty much the same same apart from blue fans!

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

It is the same case, the cm690 was always called the "dominator", the side panel with window is a new addition.

ps you can get a cm690 with the same window side panel but with out the nvidia advertising and green led fan (standard blue one instead)

the lose of the upper side panel fan slot is no great lose as an aftermarket cpu cooler means you cannot put a fan there anyway.
It may be better without this upper vent.

Antec 900 is terrible for cabling unless you are willing to cut holes.

The Tempest has quality issues apparently

    Re: Dominator 690 advice

Well from a recent thread it seem the NZXT Tempest suffors from a thin window which is held in by clips not revets or screws so can rattle/vibrate.
Also the fans seem to be of dubious quality (vibrations) and the grills make them noisy.
