    MS keyboard LED's

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=020

    Is this soldered LED's, or the type you can just push in and out ?

    Dont like these green ones that are in, but at the same time, dont have the time to solder some new ones in

    Thanks

    I have no idea mate, but might I ask a question?

    How easy are the MS Natural Pro's to dismantle? I quite fancy sticking some different LED's in it (soldering, of course. I'm up for doing a PROPER job )
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    This is the multimedia, and not the natural, so i cant say. And i havnt taken this one apart yet anyway

    Oh, and if they are push in's, then you wont be able to solder them anyway

    Im not sure on this specific keyboard, but if theres any soldering near a keyboard going on, keep it well away from the keys bit of the membrane things can do very wrong.

    I have that same keyboard, but in blue! I have no clue about the LEDs, but they cant be pushed in, I just tried. Its a very solid keyboard.

    I don't quite think you understand what we mean

    I am talking about the LED's on the PCB. Some LED's are soldered onto the board (most), and a few have a "push in" type interface. Similar to a jumper, but with a LED on.

    Either way, ill have to open up the keyboard to get access to them

    I know exactly what you mean, I've done a fair bit of soldering before. I just wasnt bothered to check if it was soldered, but you made me do it! I removed the back f my keyboard, removed the little PCB, and they are soldered together. That answers your questions hopefully.

    Forgot to mention, they are soldered very neatly, very little space to work on.

    Ah cool, cheers matey. Saves me the time of opening it, only to put it back together to do when i have the time

    I thought when you said "but they cant be pushed in, I just tried. Its a very solid keyboard" that you were trying to physicaly push them in from the top !, doh !

    Cheers anyway mate, saved me some time. People like you make this a great place to be
