    Antec, Lian Li or Coolermaster?

    Hi there,

I am thinking of buying either one of the following and was wondering if anyone else has one of these cases nad therefore an opinion on them:

    Antec 1200
    Lian Li PC-P60
    Coolermaster Cosmos 1000

It will be holding 2x 8800GTX so I am looking for some good air cooling as they get pretty hot. I'm also running an AMD Athlon X2 4800+ with 2 harddrives which may give a better indication of the heat involved.

    Cheers

Well all three are large and with good cooling, I think it's going to be more up to you on looks

You might want to look at the Coolermaster HAF932 as well, looks very good for cooling/posible water cooling.

If you take a gander at the most recent CustomPC magazine, they use a test chamber and a thermal camera to rate cases on their cooling and thermal performance

Highly recommend HAF-932, air cooling offered is fantastic, especially for hot gfx cards.

Thanks for the advice, but tragiaclly the HAF-932 has no dust filters, which seems a massive oversight considering how much air it pulls through, so its no good to me.

    Its also FUgly!

Re: Antec, Lian Li or Coolermaster?

you're correct to point out the lack of filters, I'm waiting for about 4-5 months more and see how the dust build up is.

My CM690 was filtered at the front and I added filters and covered holes up where necessary, yet inside was still dusty after some months and my TRUE heatsink fins had plenty of dust too so it still gets in.

For the looks, its not the most prettiest thing I'll give you that but surely that should come a flat last in the requirements, it does look better in the flesh though, if you have an opportunity to see it in person, do so.
The features and cooling offered is immense for the money.

Re: Antec, Lian Li or Coolermaster?

Why should aesthetics come flat last? I agree you should not buy on looks alone but the look of the case can be at least as important as its thermal performance.

Oh and just to throw my 2p in the Lian-Li will have much better build quality than the other two and of the 3 would probably get my monies if price was not an issue.

Also consider the Hiper Osiris and Anubis smaller cases but good build quality and full aluminium priced very favourably may not be suitable for you but thought I would mention them. The other player to consider is Silverstone the TJ06 and TJ05 are more reasonably priced and the TJ07 TJ09 and TJ10 are all very expensive but exceptional cases. I have a TJ06 but can't really comment on its air cooling performance as it is water cooled and modded to accommodate said cooling (apart from the motherboard and DVD drives nothing is in the original place )

Re: Antec, Lian Li or Coolermaster?

You'll always get the same answer to this question from me. If you budget will run to it get the Lian Li. You'll never need to buy another case. The build quality is better than anything I've seen.

Re: Antec, Lian Li or Coolermaster?

Get the Lian Li, as everyone has said, the build quality is second to none and once you've had one, any other cases seem a bit cheap in comparison
