The kits are very expensive for what you get, I used some spare carpet I had from when they did my room. Was black so looked really nice inside my black case. It was obviously new and fireproof

Seemed to work pritty well, maybe not quite as much as the real stuff BUT this was free, not £20 for like half a case

that wavy sort of foam used in speakers should do the trick if stuck down proporly. Enough glue should do it (dont get it near superglue or any of that stuff...)

IMHO the soundproofing materials used are really that good at limiting noise. My mates server has been "sound proofed" and it's still as load as ever. Buy a fan controller instead with the money.

It only helps, its not like its magically going to silence your PC totally but it'll help I spent around £70 on silencing my PC, I bought various Zalman, and Speeze products, now its very quiet (I'd recommend GlacialTec coolers).

The Akasa stuff isn't worth the effort of fitting imo. Best stuff I have used is the AcoustiPack.

packaging foam, like what you get with hdd's is great, and cheap - free infact. Im running my hdd's on my server inside the cardboard boxes that they were delivered in, they are silent

I personally use the coolermaster professional sound-proofing kit and it doesn't affect the internal temperature that much at all, there is a difference of roughly +/- 2 degrees

Why not get a bulk buy of cheap mouse matts? They work just as well
