what color light? (and a qn about them)

May seem like a unusal qn, but what color light should i put in my case?

Atm ive got some blue LED fans, but they arn't really bright enough, what i'm wondering is what would be the best color to get to go with the blue? Just blue again or would mixing the colors look ok.

Also whats the best type of light to get? and how are they attached to the case? do most of them come with molex splitters or should i buy one.

finally wheres the cheapest place to get them frm (free delivery is best ;)

It could look quite nice if you mixed a blue and a white cathode... I haven't tried that, but I'd imagine it'd look nice! I used to have blue and red cathodes in my chieftec dragon, but I don't use that anymore.

In general, I would say ebuyer are probably the cheapest for cold cathodes. You can buy a cathode kit, which comes with a lamp and inverter for about £6. The inverter can power two cathodes, so you can easily buy a cathode without an inverter for £3 ish. Absolute bargain, and they've gone down in price by ALOT of the last few months.

£11 including delivery isn't bad at all, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than scan or aria if you fancied driving to those shops (seeing as you're a Manc :>)

Is it fun stopping game play or what ever to watch your lights glow :).I can see getting lace wire to cut down on air flow but a light show for a computer come on get real,it is a waste of time.I bet after a few hours you for get about it anyways.I,m sorry there is no logic to the idear in my view.Maybe it is a in house fad going around,or lan party thing,like see my lights while I woop up on ye butt.

You are right, it is an aesthetic thing, but not in the sense that you provided. Say you buy a car - has a good miles per gallon ratio, nice sounding system, gets you from A to B nicely. However, it looks like a Nova crossed with a transit on stilts. Do you really want to drive that car?

It's a matter of personal taste. I take it that you don't mind your computer being in a lovely beige case? Different horses, mate.

you hide you case below the table dont you? if you want it in view, next to your monitor... (near) then you want a nice looking case, maybe with some nice lights to illuminate everything... why not?

personally i wouldnt bother with many things people do, but i can understand why they do them.

I fancy changing the green and yellow LEDs for power and HDD activity to blue and red or something. is there anywhere i can get these cheap, and is it just as simple as cutting one off and soldering one on? or do i need to know about voltages and stuff...?

Check the ampage/voltage doodah with a multimeter to be sure. I've no idea what I'm talking about with electronics, but make sure you get the right kind of LED before you buy it.

Try maplins for LEDs, not exactly cheap, but not expensive. Price decreases nicely if you buy in bulk.
