    Case Conundrum!

ok not really a conundrum but anyway

I'm thinking about building a new rig and am undecided on what chassis I should buy. I've been looking at reviews and more reviews for the past week but I cant decide and everytime I elimanate a candidate another catches my eye.

The following cases have caught my eye:
    Coolmaster 932 HAF
    Coolmaster RC-1100 Sport
Coolmaster 932 Stacker (though this stretches the budget a little). Sorry Stacker 832 (cheers Pob)
    Thermatake Spedo

I'm willing to look at all brands that are available in the UK with the budget not being more then the 932 Stacker which is a stretch at £200.
Aesthics are an issue to me which is why I have been put off the Antex 1200 as the case is a bit too "bling" with the LEDs (from what I hear the LED on the HAF does not shine out and hit the other side of the room).
I am also not overtly concerned with tooless building as I have built past PCs in cramped cases using good ol' screw drivers and have found it perfectly reasonable.

So to sum up, the main things im looking for is Performance followed by Aesthetics.

Sorry for being hard to please but I would really appreciate the help.
    Thanks, Alex.

    Re: Case Conundrum!

With your budget you should consider Lian-Li and Silverstone

    http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/contact_us/index1.php
    http://www.silverstonetek.com.tw/

Both offer exceptional built quality, far superior to what you find in cases by Coolermaster and Thermaltake and the like. But you have to pay for it with their top of the range cases running up to £250+

Have a look at what they offer definetly worth the time if your considering spending more than £100 (and even if your not they offer good quality cheaper cases as well).

You may also want to consider the Hiper Osiris and Anubis both all aluminium construction not quite the attention to detail found with Lian-Li and Silverstone but still brilliant quality and a very good price point of ~£80

I saw the HAF-932 showcased at a show some months ago, waited and waited till it was available and finally got it last month, glad I did, complete joy to work with internally and the cooling performance is superb and very quiet.
It has tool-less features, but you can use screws easily, except the drive trays but that actually works well.
You hear right about the front LED fan, its very very dim.
Looks might not be to taste for some, but I was willing to forgo this for the features and cooling offered.

    seconded...

i'm extremely happy with my Lian Li A05 instead of my (at the time) 12week old Thermaltake Soprano DX
it's nice and compact without being small...

    Re: Case Conundrum!

Not seen the spedo before (what a bad name choise)
actually looks ok from the outside.

    As to the original question,
    Coolmaster 932 Stacker
    Do you mean 832 ?
I cannot find a 932 stacker just the haf

But other than that all of them should give good air flow, so you're down to which you think looks best.

    Re: Case Conundrum!

Yes sorry, I did mean the Stacker 832, thanks for letting me know.

Secondly thanks for the help so far. I've started to look at the Lian Li PC-P80B aswell as the Silverstone TJ-09 and they do seem tempting, if not at the top of the budget.

The Coolmasters are still in it though, I'm slowly turning away from the Spedo.

The HAF for me looks like a great case but, imo it just looks so ugly, too industrial. At first I liked it but now I'm starting to dislike it and am tilting towards to 1100 Sport as I dont know much (as couldnt find any reviews, if you know of one please link it) of the Stacker 832.

If anyone has had any experiance with the PC-P80B, TJ-09, Cosmos 1100-s Sport or the Stacker 832 please give me input, especially on thermal performance.

After a little more research the PC-A7010 also looks very tempting. I would very mcuh appreciate views on this awell

    Thanks again,

    Alex.

    Re: Case Conundrum!

Case review for the Stacker 832 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/C...er/Stacker_832

    and for the A7010 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/L...C-A7010/7.html

Don't forget the is a PC-P60 as well (smaller version of the P80) which is a fair bit cheaper.

Worth considering how big some of these cases actually are as well, make sure they will fit where you want to put it. Depth can be quite important if you want to put it on a desk and if it is going under the desk placement of the front IO ports and height are obviously of more importance.

    Re: Case Conundrum!

Size isnt an issue as the case will probaly live on the flaw. If I can be bother I may modify my desk which atm can only hold a MIDI case (I'm fixed on an ATX). Luckily the stand can be unscrewed easily.

    Thanks for the reviews

    Re: Case Conundrum!

Recently had to make a similar decision. Discounted the RC-1100 S as apparently it's quite noisy in some cases. Came down to 2, the RC-1000 (much quieter) and the Antec P182. I went for the cosmos in the end as it's well sound proofed, although both PC's look great. Also the cosmos would allow for water cooling later on.
