    Monitor dimensions for custom case

    Hi,

I've been given the job of building a pc for my dad in a custom built case. As he wants to put the monitor inside part of the case, (sorry for the cryptic i've been sworn to secrecy) i wondered if there ws a website out there or anything that would give me some general basic sizes for 17" and 19" widescreen monitors. I don't mean the viewable size, i mean compete with frame (if you can call it that).
I'm not asking people to run round measuring monitors, just a rough guide would do.

Re: Monitor dimensions for custom case

I could be wrong, but most monitors have about an Inch frame or whatever all the way around the outside, thats the max i've seen anyway.

A 17" widescreen would be er... well use hypotenese theorem, and workout the sizes for each side, the an two inches on, for a rough guide..

Or you could wait for someone with an actual 17 or 19" monitor to measure it

Thanks for that, I didn't think about the hypotenuse theorem.

Its mainly a rough idea to shut my dad up, hes bugging me about components, so if i can give him a monitor size he can set about makig the casing for it and leave me alone!

The theory you were looking for was Pythagoras' theorem.

Anyway to make it easier for you.

17" widescreen panel 14.4" wide by 9" tall
19" widescreen panel 16.1" wide by 10.1" tall

this obviously needs to have a bezel added on and that will depend entirely on the model of monitor you pick.

ok don't know exactly what this is for but you can also point him at a pre-built system where the pc and monitor is combined, like a mac but a pc

wouldn't be of much use for gaming but fine for daily web and office stuff

thanks for the link. He wants to kind of encase the monitor seperately, he's just being awkward if you ask me.
