    Thumbs down Ooops

Just got my old comp all sprayed up and sorted with the window kit. I stuck the liquid neon in and it worked... for a bit.

Then is started hissing, so I had a look. It seems the wires from the inverter are scorched. If you ask me the wires are way too thin to handle the current and have not been too chuffed after been on for a few minutes.

I wanted to know whether replacing the wires would solve the issues, as the aparatus seems to work fine, and the inverter wasn't running at an unearthly temperature, neither was the neon behaving unusually (until said event.)

It's a case of bothering to send it back (and incur shipping costs,) or sort it myself.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Kez.

If you replace the wires, you'll probably void any warranty. If the wires were too thin, surely your supplier would have stopped selling them as lots would have been faulty and returned. It's likely a faulty inverter, if I were you I'd bite the bullet and return it.

You need to use special wire for cold cathodes and neons. Its called kynar from memory. Normal wire will not work, and you have voided your warranty I'm afriad.

Right I'll send it back, the folks where I got it from (over-clock.co.uk) are very helpful.

    Cheers for the info.
