Question VMware ESX Virtual Server Build

Has anyone built their own box which worked with ESX virtual ware lately? I am interested in using one of Supermicro's Enhanced Extended ATX mainboards, but they are not on the ESX compatability list yet. However, the intell 5400 chipsets and Xeon quad processors they take are both compatible. Has anyone "hot tested" one these on ESX or other Unix applications?

All my ESX kit is on HP hardware , but I've got a few links on Homebrew ESX labs.
