So no one has any idea what would work best as a side panel to keep my case cool?
i would assume that using fans would be best as you are physically forcing (cooler) air into the case.

I'd guess that the side panel grille with 120mm fan would get the most circulation into the case - but also likely to get quite a lot of dust in there too cos you'd be unable to filter it properly.

It is rather difficult to tell just by looking at those two side panels... It is most important to consider the airflow of the entire enclosure - you may be forcing air into the hot spots, but it is equally important that you've exhausts to drag that hot air out.
