    Re: Opinions please

    In a word: Minimal.

Surfing doesn't even stress a single core CPU (unless it's really ancient) in most cases. Chat hosting? Again, minimal resource use unless it's a large user base. A second GFX card? What on Earth for? Adding a second or even changing your GFX card (being an upgrade or downgrade) would have no impact on your browsing or text based chatting.

Would the proposed upgrade be faster? Yes, but the improvement would be practically insignificant in my opinion. Curious, have you found it too slow or somehow lacking for your needs?

    Re: Opinions please

Seems a bit of a pointless upgrade if you ask me.

Also, this isn't anything to do with "Chassis & system 'modding'" so should have been posted in the regular Hardware forum

    Re: Opinions please

Q6600 would be a downgrade, and adding another 8800GTS would just increase your power bill. If you rarely game with this rig, get something low-power like HD4350 would save you about 50 quids a year in electricity.

    Re: Opinions please

The best upgrade you can possibly do is to spend like 15 quid on another 2gb of RAM and thats about it.

    Good luck for your ebay.

    Re: Opinions please

Yeah, the motherboard is overkill for that sort of setup as well. You'd be better off with a mid-range model such as the P5Q Deluxe.
