Best case for £80.

I am looking for a new case for my new pc build.
So far the osiris by hiper and coolermaster 590 or 690 are catching my eye.

Main requirements would be quietish case, good cable management and removable mobo tray would be handy.
I think mid tower should be big enough. Must be big enough to take 2 gfx cards as I am looking at xfire setup.

Is there any difference between the psu being at the bottom or top of the case?

I am not too fussed about how great it looks.

Any suggestions?

Re: Best case for £80.

The nine-hundered is a great case imo but the lack of tool free bays and some difficult cable routing + sharp edges makes it a loser for me vs the CM-690, which I would say is best buy at <=£80.

'Now you can own any noob ever spawned with this ultra-mean case in classic black finish. We know your gaming hardware produces a lot of heat, that's why the case is built for maximum cool with a perforated front bezel, three 120mm fans with mounts for even more fans, and a monster top-mounted 200mm fan that's right, we said 200mm! The versatile Nine Hundred is maximally customizable to fit your needs. The modular design lets you modify the placement of the front fans and hard drive cages. There's even a tray on top for your mp3 player, digital camera, or that spare illudium Q-42 explosive space modulator that you have lying around. Be the envy of everyone at your next LAN party, impress your friends, and just generally show everyone that you are the ultimate master of all time with the Antec Nine Hundred!'

Wow I am not sure I am cool enough for the case It looks pretty smart.

I see from your sig you have this case, how is the noise with it? The 200m fan etc?

Hmmm... how loud. Less loud than typing, 4 sure (2*120mm fans on low, rear 120mm fan on med, 200mm fan on med). Less quiet than the PSU, but more quiet than the GPU, yer... Fairly quiet.

Also you may wanna invest in some dust filters for the front fans.

Re: Best case for £80.

Save some pennies and get the Antec 300 @ £50 - Most cases under £100 are cheap in some ways. Its only when you hit £100 + you get real quality like Lian Li and Silverstone.
But the Antec 300 doesn't pretend to be anything more than a good simple case, clean cut, plenty of space, roof fan, 2 intake fans. The only thing it misses is cable management holes but for £50 you can't complain.

While it's not out yet the Nzxt PANZERBOX should be around £80 and is initally looking very good.

The hiper osiris has had some very good reviews and it well liked by some, definately not one to overlook IMO
As are the CM 590 and 690, But I'd advise getting the window side panel version or getting the side panel seperately as it's much better than the standard non-windowed one.
Antec 300 and 900 are others to consider as is the antec p182 (you may be able to pice one up 2nd hand cheaply)

Re: Best case for £80.

Is that £80 with or without PSU?

For an extra £10 I would get the Antec Sonata III with 500W Earthwatts PSU. Those PSU are pretty quiet (not quite as quiet as Seasonic, Corsair, Nexus Value, etc) but still very quiet. The Sonata is an excellent case and a good foundation for a quiet build.

I'm a bit of a fan of Antec cases. The Antec 4480 is another great case.

Re: Best case for £80.

Im in the market for a new case and have been looking at the Antec 300, the larger 120mm fans will have good airflow and low noise which is a welcome, and at under £50 even more so.

Re: Best case for £80.

In the end I bought a CM-scout. Very nice case, although not as big inside as it might look. However, very cool, excellent cable management, quiet, and really portable. Also, totally hassel free build, much better than when I built in the 900 (although I still love that case). The other thing is the amount of goodies you get for your £80 - best assortment of ties, screws, bay converters, cables etc etc I have ever had with a case - though I'm sure if as you spend more and more the freebies come with.

Re: Best case for £80.

Wow, the 900v1 has really dropped in price since I bought it!

One of the best cases I've ever used, and yes the cable management is poor, but nothing a pack of cable ties and half an hour won't sort!

Replace the riced up LED fans and you have a superb case, thats quiet and good looking. Ignore the 'h8rs'

Oh and if you use bigass GFX card(s) (I have a 4870), move the lower HDD cage to the bottom section and adjust your intake fans accordingly, otherwise its a tight squeeze.
